On January 10, Binh Duong General Hospital announced that it had successfully performed surgery on a rare case in which a man had part of a chopstick deeply embedded in his eye socket without him knowing.

After consultation, the doctors assessed the extent of damage caused by the foreign object, as well as the possibility of bleeding after removing the foreign object from the eye socket. Surgery was performed afterwards and the doctors were able to remove the foreign object, which was a broken wooden chopstick tip, nearly 6 cm long.
According to Mr. B., he was previously hit by someone with a chopstick, scratching his eyelid, but he did not know that the chopstick had penetrated inside.
The doctor removed the tip of the chopsticks.
According to doctors, foreign bodies in the eye socket are very rare. Foreign bodies in the eye socket need to be removed and treated promptly to avoid inflammation of the orbital tissue and loss of vision. When admitted to the hospital, patient B. only had inflammation of the orbital tissue, not leading to optic neuritis, and was diagnosed and treated promptly by doctors.
