Carmen is a 19th-century opera by French composer Georges Bize. It is one of the most beloved works of the operatic form, although it initially shocked audiences by breaking conventions and expectations.
Carmen is a timeless masterpiece that captivates audiences with its captivating story and passionate music. Set in Spain, the film tells the story of Carmen, a passionate woman who finds herself entangled with jealous, obsessed men. This iconic character embarks on a tragic path when she meets Don José, an army corporal looking for love.
Carmen, performed by the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet, is condensed into 120 minutes but still retains the value of a classic. Along with traditional elements, VNOB's Carmen has a modern innovation. Audiences will experience the vibrant blend of the original masterpiece in the present day setting of a 21st century pub with seductive Tap dance as well as the youthful rhythm of K-Pop. The dramatic story is vividly portrayed, with colorful costumes and vibrant choreography, adding visual richness to the work.
By bringing Carmen to the stage this time, the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet Theater hopes to bring the audience to the truly pinnacle of Opera art interspersed with attractive and modern choreography. Therefore, along with the tradition that has been built for hundreds of years, Carmen of VNOB will bring the breath of the new era with dances that young people are fond of such as Tap Dance, K-Pop. On the other hand, Carmen 2024 will help change the way people look at women. Carmen of VNOB will be a beautiful, confident, powerful woman who is loved by many people, not a flirtatious girl who specializes in flirting and ruining men's careers"./.
