Why are Chinese goods such as fashion, household appliances... overwhelming Vietnamese goods from e-commerce platforms to markets?

After the article Small traders sell Chinese goods, abandon Vietnamese goods,   Many readers said there will be many consequences if consumers and retailers turn their backs on Vietnamese goods.

And Vietnamese businesses need to change soon to save themselves.

I really want to support Vietnamese products, but...

According to reader Cat Duong, behind every Vietnamese product on the market there is the effort of countless workers. They can even be ourselves, or our relatives, friends, and family.

"The economy is in trouble, manufacturing businesses and workers are all suffering. If you remove a Vietnamese product and replace it with an imported one, it will indirectly make things worse. Supporting Vietnamese products also means we are helping ourselves," reader Cat Duong shared.

Sharing the same view, reader Hung said that if businesses cannot compete, employees will be unemployed.

We keep saying we compete fairly, but when domestic manufacturing enterprises lose their position, many people will be unemployed.

Although wanting to support Vietnamese products, in reality many readers say the problem is not just "wanting is getting".

According to reader Duc Tang, once we join the WTO, we have to accept it. Vietnamese goods must improve quality and price to compete with Chinese goods.

Similarly, readers ngoc****@gmail.com believes that consumers only need good prices and adequate quality, while traders need maximum profit. So don't just call for support.

"If we just find ways to improve quality and compete on price, consumers will come to us. But if we attend a few fairs or seminars calling for domestic products, we will forget about them a few days later," this reader commented.

As evidence that even though she wants to support Vietnamese products, sometimes she is hesitant, reader Ngan said that she bought leather sandals made by domestic enterprises for 200,000 VND/pair but after a month of use, they fell apart. She bought plastic sandals and after a few days of use, they turned yellow and smudged. Meanwhile, Chinese plastic sandals with the same price can last a whole year.

Reader Tai asked why the same product and quality but his goods are more expensive even though the labor cost is not high? Is it because his goods have to go through too many intermediaries, each place costs a little so the production price is high.

Many taxes, Vietnamese goods have difficulty competing?

However, many opinions say that the problem is not only imported goods, but the domestic business environment is contributing to the decline of furniture businesses.

In fact, reader Ba Phi said that with many positive policies, the shipping cost of an order from China to Ho Chi Minh City is cheaper than from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City on the same platform, with the same shipping unit of the platform.

Not to mention orders under 1 million are exempt from VAT, customs clearance, and shipped directly from China to Vietnam.

"Stores in Vietnam have to pay 1% VAT on revenue, and if production materials have to be imported, they have to pay 10% VAT. What can stores and businesses in Vietnam do to cope?", reader Ba Phi compared.

Meanwhile, readers Sloran said he also tried to start a small business, but Chinese goods were cheap and he couldn't compete, so he closed his shop.

"Chinese goods imported into Vietnam have low production costs, are not taxed, enjoy incentives, are supported by trading floors, and are shipped quickly, so the selling price is cheap and the goods are flooded in the market" - reader Sloran wrote.

Therefore, according to reader hoad****@gmail.com, all orders with import origin must be taxed at least 10%. Gradually increase tax selectively.

Many readers believe that the State needs to strictly check the origin of imported goods, and that customs and market management... must do a good job to prevent poor quality goods and smuggled foreign goods.

Very concerned about the story of cheap imported goods, reader An said that the speed of Chinese weaving machines is higher than his, a Chinese person operates more weaving machines than he does. Production includes three factors: people, technology and process. The source of raw materials and the area of raw materials also have a significant impact.

"So the problem of planning for development areas, industrial parks, residential areas, traffic connections... A big picture will show what we need to do.

Improving skills and improving machinery and processes are things that businesses need to do immediately. Besides, it is necessary to create a good environment for businesses, standard planning will help increase connectivity and competition," reader An added.
