On November 30, Lawyer Tran Cong Phan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice President, General Secretary of the Vietnam Lawyers Association, Deputy of the 15th National Assembly - Head of the working delegation, along with Lawyer Duong Dinh Khuyen, Member of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Lawyers Association, Head of the Legal Consulting and Legal Aid Department; Lawyer Luong Mai Sao, Member of the Party Committee, Chief of the Party Committee Office, Head of the Organization and Personnel Department of the Vietnam Lawyers Association, came to work with the Standing Committee of the Can Tho City Party Committee on the coordination of leadership and direction of the Can Tho City Lawyers Association to meet the requirements in the new situation.
Receiving the delegation of the Vietnam Lawyers Association at the Can Tho City Party Committee Office, there was comrade Pham Van Hieu, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Can Tho City People's Council, along with representatives of the City People's Committee, the City Party Committee's Organization Committee, the City Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee, the City Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Committee and representatives of the Department of Justice, Department of Home Affairs of Can Tho City, etc.

Reporting on the assessment of the results of the organization and operation of the Can Tho City Bar Association, the representative of the Can Tho City Party Committee said that with the attention of the leaders of the Vietnam Bar Association, the Central Committee of the Association, especially the direct and regular leadership and direction of the City Party Committee and the People's Committee of Can Tho City on the direction of operation, proactively building and implementing programs and work plans.
In which, many contents and aspects of activities have new developments, the quality and efficiency of activities have been improved, contributing to the successful implementation of political, economic, socio-cultural, political security and social order tasks in the area.
By closely following the guidelines of the Central Association, the City Party Committee, and the City People's Committee, the Can Tho City Lawyers Association has focused on implementing its tasks and achieved some basic and specific results: Participating in the development of policies and laws, giving opinions on draft laws requested by the National Assembly Delegation; draft legal documents in the area; participating in monitoring and social criticism delegations...; coordinating with functional agencies to propagate and disseminate laws, provide legal advice and legal aid; litigating in courts at all levels; participating in a number of State management activities and public services in the Association's field of operation according to the provisions of law; coordinating with the Central Association in a number of activities carried out in the area; successfully fulfilling its role as a member of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
Organizational work is maintained stably, monthly meetings, meetings of the Standing Committee and Executive Committee of the City Association are carried out according to regulations; in 2023, 35 members will be developed.
In addition, the Can Tho City Bar Association has advised the City Party Committee and the City People's Committee to issue directive documents and develop action plans and programs to implement Directive No. 14-CT/TW of the Politburo, Plan No. 1829-KH/BCSĐCP dated May 4, 2023 of the Government Party Committee on the implementation of Directive No. 14-CT/TW.
The Associations at all levels in this City promptly organize the implementation of documents of the Central and the City according to regulations.

Can Tho City Bar Association has also participated in the activities of the City Law Dissemination and Education Coordination Council, promoting the role of the Association in contributing ideas to develop programs and work plans of the Council.

Currently, Can Tho City Bar Association has 1 Legal Consulting Center and 6 branches in Ninh Kieu, Binh Thuy, Cai Rang, O Mon, Thot Not districts, Phong Dien district; 14 consultants participating in performing assigned tasks; a number of organizational models are generally agreed upon and highly appreciated by public opinion, all of these activities are free of charge.
According to the Can Tho City Party Committee, in addition to the advantages and achievements, the Can Tho City Bar Association has encountered many difficulties, such as: the operational efficiency of some levels of the association in some fields is not high, the operating methods have not been innovated, there are not many forms to gather, mobilize and promote the role of members to actively and effectively participate in implementing some tasks of supervising law enforcement, supervising and social criticism in building and perfecting politics and laws; the work of participating in resolving complaints, the work of participating in grassroots mediation has not been promoted regularly...

Speaking at the meeting, Lawyer Tran Cong Phan, Vice President of the Vietnam Lawyers Association and Head of the working delegation, highly appreciated the achievements of the Can Tho City Lawyers Association.
In particular, the Central Association coordinated with Can Tho to successfully organize a Photo Exhibition Week with the theme "Vietnamese Lawyers with the Homeland's Sea and Islands" from April 17, 2023 to April 23, 2023, attracting thousands of visitors and receiving positive and effective comments and assessments from this activity.
“The City Bar Association needs to make more efforts in its role and tasks, building and perfecting the organization but it must be suitable for the locality. At the same time, the City Bar Association is required to closely coordinate with the Departments, branches, and District People's Committees in the process of performing the role and tasks of the association…”, Lawyer Tran Cong Phan emphasized.
