On January 24, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier visited the Vietnam-Germany University in Ben Cat town, Binh Duong province. This activity is part of the State visit at the invitation of President Vo Van Thuong and his wife.
Accompanying the German President were German Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Hubertus Heil, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc and representatives of a number of enterprises. On the side of Binh Duong province, there was Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Minh.
After visiting the Laboratory of Production Engineering, President Frank-Walter Steinmeier gave a speech to hundreds of students of the Vietnamese-German University.
The German President said he was very impressed with Vietnam today, which is a wonderful combination of tradition and modernity. He affirmed that although Germany and Vietnam are more than 10,000km apart, the relationship between the two countries is not distant. Germany pledged to provide bilateral support to Vietnam in many areas such as ecological transition, infrastructure, economic structure, etc.
President Frank-Walter Steinmeier assessed the role and importance of Vietnam in the region and on the world stage. In addition, he pointed out many difficulties and challenges that the two countries are facing in the face of many fluctuations in the world situation. He believes that the two countries will continue to properly implement the rules, respect international law, and multilateralize and diversify friendly and cooperative relations. According to him, this will be an important factor to overcome difficulties and challenges together.

The German President assessed the Vietnam-Germany University Project as a "lighthouse project" for the close relationship between the two countries. Germany will continue to support Vietnam, doubling the current training scale of the school.
Along with the speech of the German President, German Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Hubertus Heil also had a dialogue with students of the Vietnam-Germany University. Along with that was a short exchange between German businesses and teachers and students of the school about the relationship between businesses and the University; labor needs, students' capacity after graduation...
