Ho Chi Minh City is in the process of restructuring its agriculture, focusing on applying high technology and biotechnology in production.

Catching up with this trend, some farmers in the suburbs have invested in technology in flower gardens, ornamental plants, ornamental fish, etc., earning billions of dong each year.

In particular, the projects also help farmers in the region increase their income, escape poverty and turn rural areas into livable places.

We came to Mr. Hoang Manh Long's Hong Anh Arowana farm located in Phuoc Thanh commune, Cu Chi district and were overwhelmed by the grandeur of the Arowana farm. This is both a place to display and introduce Arowana fish and a place to breed and sell them to the market.

Arowana fish is known as the fish of the rich, the fish of the nobility, and has a very high market price. Mr. Long is the owner of the largest Arowana fish farm in Ho Chi Minh City.

Pointing to small white arowana and yellow arowana fish, he said the value was tens of millions of dong. Large, beautiful ones are sold at even higher prices on the market, up to tens of millions, even hundreds of millions of dong.

Thanks to its experience in raising arowana fish and its continuously growing scale, the farm has created jobs for more than a dozen local workers.

Farmers in the area are trained in care and breeding techniques to produce the most beautiful arowanas. Each worker earns about 10 million VND/person/month. Thanks to that, many people have had stable jobs for more than ten years.

Make the countryside a livable place

Recently, Mr. Hoang Manh Long decided to invest and turn his Arowana fish farm into an eco-tourism destination in Cu Chi. The Dragon Land Eco-tourism Area is located in an area of over 11,000m2 on Kenh Dong Street, Mit Nai Hamlet, Phuoc Thanh Commune, Cu Chi District.

The tourist area has a pond, a dragon fish exhibition area, a pet area, a tropical garden, and a miniature water park. The farm has the typical characteristics of an ecological urban agricultural production area combined with experiential tourism.

Guests only need to buy drinks from 50,000 VND to enjoy the services.

“Because I saw that the locality had few entertainment venues, while the dragon fish farm had a large area, a beautiful location, and beautiful fish, I decided to invest properly, investing in many new items to do tourism, creating a destination for people to have fun,” said Mr. Long.

This tourist area helps Cu Chi district residents have a place to play and entertain while also creating jobs for many other workers. Currently, every morning, more than a dozen people from the commune come to the tourist area to work. Young men and women focus on selling tickets and drinks, while older people in their 40s are in charge of cleaning and cooking. The average income per person is 7-10 million VND/person.
