Provincial People's Council delegates meet voters of Mong Cai City before the regular meeting at the end of 2024

On the afternoon of November 12, the delegation of the Provincial People's Council in Mong Cai City organized a meeting with voters in 3 wards and communes: Hai Yen, Ninh Duong and Van Ninh (Mong Cai City) before the regular meeting at the end of 2024 of the 14th Provincial People's Council. At the meeting, the representative of the Provincial People's Council Delegation in Mong Cai City quickly informed voters about the socio-economic situation of the province and Mong Cai City in 2024 and the content and expected program of the 23rd Session - the regular session at the end of 2024, the 14th Provincial People's Council, term 2021-2026.

Accordingly, the session will take place for 2.5 days from December 5 to 7, 2024. This is a very important session to focus on deeply assessing the results of socio-economic development in 2024; discuss the directions, tasks and solutions for socio-economic development in 2025. At this session, the Provincial People's Council focused on reviewing 18 reports on work results and specialized reports according to the provisions of Articles 58 and 59 of the Law on Supervision Activities of the National Assembly and People's Councils in 2015, the provisions of the Law on Management and Use of Public Assets in 2017, the Law on State Budget; at the same time, discussing and reviewing 16 submissions to issue 16 resolutions submitted by the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council and the Provincial People's Committee. The representative of the Provincial People's Council Delegation in Mong Cai City also informed voters and people about the results of handling the petitions of Mong Cai City voters sent to the Provincial People's Council meeting at the regular mid-year session of 2024.

At the meeting, voters of Mong Cai city expressed their joy at the socio-economic development results of the province and Mong Cai city in 2024; at the same time, they made recommendations to the provincial People's Council delegates on a number of issues related to socio-economic issues, such as: Speeding up the construction progress and soon completing Van Ninh General Port; paying attention to upgrading Van Ninh commune to a ward in the period of 2025-2030; promoting urban beautification, investing in construction, renovation, upgrading, and repairing traffic works, civil infrastructure, etc.

Speaking at the meeting, Comrade Cao Tuong Huy, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and delegate of the Provincial People's Council in Mong Cai City emphasized: In 2024, the implementation of economic development tasks in the context of opportunities and advantages intertwined with more difficulties and challenges, arising problems beyond forecasts. In particular, storm No. 3 caused heavy damage in the province of over 28,000 billion VND, but the province urgently overcame the consequences of storm No. 3, quickly stabilized the people's situation, promoted the recovery of production and business, actively promoted economic growth and policies to support people and businesses to overcome the consequences after the storm. The processing and manufacturing industry was promoted at the end of the year, striving to put Thanh Cong Automobile Factory into operation in the last month of 2024. Tourism activities were restored immediately after storm No. 3, striving to welcome 19 million tourists to Quang Ninh in 2024 to compensate for economic losses caused by storm No. 3.

Comrade Cao Tuong Huy, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, also praised and acknowledged the enthusiastic, responsible and close-to-local-reality opinions of the voters. He emphasized that the province has approved the urban development program of Mong Cai city, determined to build and upgrade Mong Cai city from a type II urban area to a type I urban area before 2030, so there will be many urban beautification investment projects in accordance with the requirements and expectations of the people. In the coming time, the province will also speed up the progress of the Van Ninh General Port project and many other key projects and works in the city. The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested Mong Cai city to continue to pay attention to tourism development, pay attention to investing in high-quality tourism products, thereby improving the quality of tourists; improving the investment and business environment, attracting investment, especially FDI investment.
