On August 24, Laophattana News quoted an announcement from the Bokeo Provincial Special Economic Zone Management Board, Laos, requesting individuals and legal entities in the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone to immediately stop online fraud activities. At the same time, all business activities here must strictly comply with Lao law and can only operate when licensed by local authorities.
The notice also emphasizes that the payment of wages, salaries, dividends and other policies to employees or workers must be fully and timely implemented as committed. In addition, the seizure of personal documents such as passports, citizen identification cards, temporary residence cards and work permits is strictly prohibited.
From August 26, Laos will conduct strict inspections, and those who continue to conduct online fraud or do not comply with the notice will be dealt with according to Lao law. This is an important step in preventing fraudulent activities and protecting workers in this SEZ.
Notably, on August 12, Laos successfully dismantled an online fraud gang in the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone, arresting a total of 771 people from 15 different countries. This action has significantly contributed to cleaning up the business environment and ensuring security for the business community in this area.
In this context, combating online fraud in the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone is becoming a top priority, while also affirming the Lao government's commitment to building a healthy and transparent business environment.
