TPO - During the journey following Red Sunday at Lynn Times Thanh Thuy, the beauty queens and beauties had an extremely memorable experience when learning about traditional Japanese patterns, then creating unique and one-of-a-kind works with their own hands.
For the Japanese, anything can elevate art, and art can be seen everywhere. Like at Lynn Times Thanh Thuy, where the program to respond to Red Sunday - "Giọt hồng đất Việt" on March 3 was inspired by Japan, from kimono or yukata, scarves to murals or decorations, all printed with traditional patterns. Of course, in Japanese culture, everything contains a message.
In the journey following Red Sunday, 2nd Runner-up Miss Vietnam 2022 Ngoc Hang, 1st Runner-up Miss World Vietnam 2023 Dao Hien, Miss Charity Miss Vietnam 2022 Nguyen Ngoc Mai, 1st Runner-up Miss Elegance 2023 Kim Tra My, Miss Ethnic Vietnam 2022 Nong Thuy Hang and Top 10 Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 Nguyen Ngoc Nu had a memorable experience at Lynn Times Thanh Thuy's Japanese garden. They were introduced to traditional Japanese motifs, their meanings and surrounding stories by artisans.
As shown above, the Yukata worn when bathing in the hot springs at Lynn Times Thanh Thuy is decorated with Seigaiha, a wave-shaped pattern resembling a fan, which originated in ancient court dances. Sometimes Yukata is also painted with Shippou, overlapping circles representing goodness and prosperity, or Kikkou, a tortoise-shell-shaped hexagonal shape symbolizing longevity.

Kimonos are often more colorful and vibrant. Sakura is one of the favorite motifs, because cherry blossoms are a symbol of Japan and also prosperity and wealth. Children's kimonos are decorated with Asanoha patterns, stylized ramie leaves with strong vitality, representing wishes for quick growth and health. For the elderly, the costume will have Koujitsunagi, meaning long life and longevity.
In some cases, the patterns also expressed the wearer's social status or rank, or represented religion or architecture. The upper class would use eagle-feather yagasuri, cloud-shaped kumotatewaki for kings, hiun and seigaiha, clouds and waves, for temples, and kagome were seen on entrances.
Not only learning about the meaning and richness of traditional Japanese motifs, beauty queens and beauties also decorated bamboo dragonflies by themselves. Speaking of bamboo dragonflies, they also contain specific meanings, which are about luck, love, friendship and the philosophy of balancing life and harmony with nature.
Using pens, colors, joy and meticulousness, Dao Hien, Nguyen Ngoc Mai, Kim Tra My, Nong Thuy Hang and Nguyen Ngoc Nu have created their own unique products. Of course, they also send a message in the bamboo dragonflies. And that can be considered an interesting secret in the journey following the 16th Red Sunday - 2024.
