2024: Overcoming challenges, completing goals According to the 2024 summary report of the Vietnam Coal and Minerals Trade Union, the past year witnessed complicated developments in the world situation, significantly affecting the production and business activities of the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV). From escalating geopolitical conflicts, fluctuating prices, to natural disasters and climate change, all pose significant challenges for the coal industry. However, with the spirit of "Discipline and Unity" of the mining working class, officers, employees and workers throughout the Group have strived to overcome difficulties, stabilize production, and complete assigned targets.

The Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin Trade Union) has played an important role in the overall success of Vinacomin in 2024. With the theme of "Solidarity, creativity, implementing the Resolution of the Trade Union Congresses at all levels, promoting the welfare of Miners, practically celebrating the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union", the Vinacomin Trade Union has built a specific action program, focusing on 12 goals, 8 groups of solutions and 38 key work programs.

One of the outstanding successes of the TKV Trade Union in 2024 is the close coordination with specialized agencies in implementing the grassroots democracy regulations. Labor conferences at all levels have become forums for workers to express their opinions and recommendations. More than 4,000 recommendations have been received and resolved, demonstrating the leaders' listening and respect for the voices of workers. The TKV Trade Union has also contributed many opinions to the development and amendment of regulations and salary scales, ensuring legitimate rights for workers.

In addition, the work of caring for the lives of employees is also given special attention. During the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin, the total budget that the Group and its member units spent on salaries, bonuses, Tet gifts and other welfare regimes amounted to more than 2,230 billion VND. Activities to visit, encourage and support employees in difficulty are also regularly implemented, demonstrating the deep concern of the trade union organization for employees. In particular, after storm No. 3 (Yagi), TKV Trade Union quickly coordinated with the Group to support more than 27 billion VND for employees whose houses were damaged, demonstrating the spirit of mutual love and timely attention to the difficulties of employees. The emulation movement in production is also a bright spot in the activities of the TKV Trade Union in 2024. The emulation movements to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union and the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Group have created a strong motivation for workers. More than 900 product projects were undertaken by trade unions at all levels, making important contributions to the Group's production and business results. Technical initiatives and improvements were also strongly promoted, bringing in a value of more than 120 billion VND. The TKV Trade Union also paid special attention to occupational safety and health (OSH), coordinating to develop a joint resolution on OSH, strengthening inspection and supervision at production sites, as well as improving the operational efficiency of the OSH network. However, there are still limitations in OSH, especially occupational accidents, this is an issue that needs to be focused on and resolved in the coming time. In 2024, TKV Trade Union also achieved significant achievements in propaganda work, women's activities and organization, inspection and supervision work. Propaganda and education activities were promoted, the emulation movement "Good at public work, good at housework" was effectively implemented, many union officials and members were trained to improve their skills and expertise.

Entering 2025, with many important political events of the country and the industry, TKV Trade Union clearly defined the goal: "Improving miners' welfare, developing union members, attracting workers. Competing to achieve achievements to welcome the Party Congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 term". To achieve this goal, TKV Trade Union set 14 specific targets, focusing on key tasks. Firstly, promoting care for workers' rights, continuing to effectively implement democracy at the grassroots level, ensuring that 100% of enterprises organize Workers' Conferences and dialogues at the workplace; strengthening supervision of the implementation of policies and regimes, negotiating and signing Collective Labor Agreements with better terms for workers; continuing to implement the "Union Shelter" housing program, building "Clean - Civilized" workers' dormitories. TKV Trade Union also aims to organize tours, vacations for 85,000 workers, support treatment, and take care of Tet for 100% of workers in the whole Group. Second, promote patriotic emulation movements. Emulation movements will be organized in a practical direction, linked to production and business tasks, especially the movements "Good workers, creative workers", "3-ization" (Mechanization - Automation - Informatization). TKV Trade Union will also organize peak emulation months such as "Workers' Month", "Month of action on occupational safety and health", to motivate workers to complete the set goals. Third, improve the quality of propaganda and education. Propaganda work will focus on disseminating the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and policies, and the political tasks of the Group and its units. Propaganda activities will be organized in a diverse and rich manner, effectively using the Union's communication channels, and at the same time promptly grasping the ideological situation of workers. Fourth, developing union members and building a strong union organization. TKV Union will focus on developing union members, ensuring that 100% of newly recruited workers are admitted to the union organization, while building a team of capable and dedicated union officials. Inspection and supervision work will be strengthened, ensuring discipline and order in union activities. Fifth, innovating women's activities. Women's activities will be innovated in terms of content and methods of operation, promoting the role of women in production and business activities and building happy families. Programs to support female workers in difficult circumstances and support scholarships for children of workers will be effectively implemented, creating conditions for female workers to develop comprehensively. To achieve these goals, TKV Trade Union also proposed specific solutions, including: Strengthening dialogue, listening to employees' opinions; promoting inspection and supervision work; innovating the content and methods of operation of trade unions at all levels; building a team of trade union officials with high professional qualifications and skills... 2025 is forecasted to have many difficulties and challenges, but with the solidarity and efforts of officials, union members, and workers in the whole industry, along with the close direction of the Group's leaders and TKV Trade Union, it is certain that the Vietnam Coal - Minerals industry will continue to develop, contributing to the overall development of the country.
