Attending the conference were Standing Deputy Secretary of Tay Ninh Provincial Party Committee Pham Hung Thai, Vice Chairman of Binh Phuoc Provincial People's Committee Tran Van Mi and Director of Customs Department Nguyen Van Tho.

At the conference, the representative of the Customs Department announced Decision 966/QD-BTC dated March 5, 2025 of the Minister of Finance on the functions, tasks, powers, and organizational structure of the regional customs branch under the Customs Department and announced the decision of the Customs Department on the regulations of offices, departments, teams, and border gate/outside border gate customs under the regional customs branch.

Accordingly, after the reorganization, the Customs Department has 20 affiliated branches nationwide. Of which, the Regional Customs Branch XVI is headquartered in Binh Duong, managing 3 provinces: Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Tay Ninh.

Region XVI Customs Branch has 8 offices, departments, teams and 16 border gate/outside border gate customs officers.

At the conference, the representative of the Customs Department announced the decisions of the Director of the Customs Department on the temporary transfer and appointment of 5 civil servants to the position of Deputy Director of the Customs Branch of Region XVI, including: Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh (Deputy Director of Binh Duong Customs Department), Mr. Tong Quoc Thinh (Deputy Director of Binh Duong Customs Department), Mr. Vo Thanh Ngoan (Deputy Director of Tay Ninh Customs Department), Mr. Phan Van Dung (Deputy Director of Binh Phuoc Customs Department) and Mr. Nguyen Van Ngan (Deputy Director of Binh Phuoc Customs Department) from March 15, 2025.

The conference also announced the decisions of the Director of the Customs Department on the transfer and appointment of Heads of Departments, Team Leaders and equivalent positions of the Regional Customs Branch XVI for 23 civil servants from March 15, 2025.

Speaking at the conference, Director of the Customs Department Nguyen Van Tho emphasized that the Regional Customs Department XVI operates under a new model with a very large scale and area including seaports, industrial zones and many international land border gates with long borders. Therefore, he requested the Department to quickly stabilize its apparatus and stabilize customs clearance activities for businesses.

Review the annual work plan of 3 units. Including administrative procedures, especially those related to specialized inspection procedures, to make recommendations for amendments, to facilitate businesses in commercial activities, and to attract investment in the XVI region.

Although the context of the newly merged apparatus has many difficulties, civil servants have certain concerns. Therefore, the requirement for the Customs Branch of Region XVI is to arrange the apparatus and personnel appropriately to perform the task well, avoiding disruption. At the same time, maintain discipline in the industry as well as solidarity, share common difficulties to complete the assigned tasks.

Focus on implementing budget collection, fighting against smuggling, trade fraud, especially transit goods, drugs...

On behalf of the Regional Customs Branch XVI, Branch Director Nguyen Tran Hieu expressed his determination to maintain collective solidarity, discipline, and successfully complete all assigned tasks in 2025.

Head of the Department Nguyen Tran Hieu said that on the first day of operation under the new model (as of 12:00 on March 15), more than 2,000 declarations were cleared smoothly and conveniently. In response to the direction of leaders at all levels, in the coming time, the Regional Customs Department XVI will focus on developing key plans and tasks on budget collection, combating trade fraud, and reforming and modernizing customs...
