On the afternoon of January 9, Tien Hai district held a conference to announce the decision of the Minister of Construction recognizing the expanded Tien Hai town as meeting the criteria of a type IV urban area.

At the conference, the leaders of the Department of Construction announced Decision No. 1038/QD-BXD, dated November 11, 2024 of the Minister of Construction recognizing the expanded Tien Hai town as meeting the criteria for a type IV urban area. According to the decision, the expanded Tien Hai town meets the criteria for a type IV urban area with a total area of 33.30 km², of which Tien Hai town is 9.387 km², Tay Giang commune is 4.851 km², Tay Ninh commune is 5.086 km², Dong Lam commune is 5.873 km² and Dong Co commune is 8.109 km².
At the conference, comrade Nguyen Khac Than, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee presented congratulatory flowers and presented the decision of the Ministry of Construction recognizing Tien Hai town as meeting the criteria of a type IV urban area to the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee.
Speaking at the conference, comrade Nguyen Quang Hung, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized: The recognition of the expanded Tien Hai town as meeting the criteria of a type IV urban area will bring opportunities, attract investment attention, develop trade, services, tourism, exchange and connect socio-economic development, creating conditions for the town to continue to promote its role and position as a political, economic, cultural and social center; an important growth pole of Tien Hai district in particular and Thai Binh Economic Zone in general, contributing to increasing the urbanization rate of the whole province.
The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Party committees, authorities, organizations and people of Tien Hai district to continue to effectively implement socio-economic development, ensure national defense - security, social order and safety, take better care of social security, and improve people's lives. Focus on urban planning, well implement the general planning project of Tien Hai town and surrounding areas approved by the Provincial People's Committee; focus on mobilizing social resources to invest, upgrade and build urban technical infrastructure and social infrastructure, promptly overcome weak criteria compared to the standards of a type IV urban area; synchronously deploy solutions to promote and strengthen effective management of urban development in the area, well control the urbanization process, urban order, and environmental protection. The Provincial People's Committee assigned relevant departments, branches and units according to their functions and tasks to be responsible for guiding and closely coordinating with the Tien Hai District People's Committee in the process of completing urban development criteria so that the district can strive to be recognized as a type III urban area in the coming time.
On this occasion, Tien Hai district summarized the patriotic emulation movement in 2024 and launched the patriotic emulation movement in 2025. The average growth rate of the district in the period of 2020 - 2025 reached over 10%/year; the budget revenue reached an average of over 1,000 billion VND/year. Infrastructure was invested synchronously and modernly, attracting many industrial park investment projects and key foreign investment projects. In 2024, the district completed and was assessed to meet the criteria of advanced new rural areas for 11 communes and model new rural areas for 3 communes. There was much progress in the cultural and social fields; national defense and security were maintained; the material and spiritual life of the people was improved, and the strength of great national unity was promoted.
At the conference, many collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing patriotic emulation movements in 2024 received certificates of merit from the Prime Minister, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, certificates of merit from the Chairman of the District People's Committee and emulation titles.
