Hanoi Hanoi Police lost 0-2 to Hai Phong at home at Hang Day Stadium in the third round of phase II of V-League 2023, on the evening of July 29.
*Goals: Viet Hung 12', Tuan Anh 90'+4
In the early match of this round, Thanh Hoa defeated Binh Dinh, while Hanoi beat Nam Dinh to climb to the top of the table. That situation requires CAHN to beat Hai Phong, if they want to regain the position they have occupied for most of this season.

The home team started off with excitement with two consecutive close-range chances, but Jhon Cley and Gustavo Henrique both missed. On the contrary, Hai Phong played effectively, even opening the score in the first chance of the 12th minute. From Huu Son's pass from the right wing, Yuri Almeida controlled the ball incorrectly but it became an assist for Trieu Viet Hung to finish close-range, defeating Filip Nguyen.
After that, Hai Phong created two more chances but Yuri Almeida headed wide, and the home team was stuck in attack. Midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai continued to start this match, but did not make any significant impression.
It was not until the second half that CAHN improved. In the 51st minute, Jhon Cley passed the ball to Gustavo Henrique who ran down and backheeled for Raphael Success to shoot low, but it hit the post. In the 78th minute, Van Thanh put the ball into Hai Phong's net, but the goal was disallowed because Gustavo Henrique had been offside. Doan Van Hau also had a chance but headed wide after a corner kick.
In the 85th minute, Doan Van Hau crossed from the left wing for Henrique to run in but did not touch the ball, and the ball hit center back Van Dat and bounced out. CAHN players demanded a penalty but referee Nguyen Dinh Thai did not think the ball hit the Hai Phong defender's hand.

Despite many attacks without scoring, CAHN's goal was in danger many times from counter-attacks. In the 90th minute, Hai Huy missed a shot in an open position, but four minutes later, he did not miss. In a one-on-one situation with Filip Nguyen, he played a teammate pass to Xuan Truong to finish but Giam Tuan Duong used his chest to block the goal line. The ball bounced right to Tuan Anh's chosen position, allowing this midfielder to finish to seal the score at 2-0.
This is CAHN's third loss in the last five matches. CAHN lost the top spot and dropped to third place with 28 points. Hanoi FC and Thanh Hoa have 29 points each, but the capital team leads thanks to a better goal difference (+9 compared to +8).
