Regarding the fire in Quang Trung Ward that killed 4 people and injured 1, on May 13th, the Hanoi City Police are still investigating and clarifying the cause.
The house where the fire occurred.
Speaking to Thanh Nien newspaper , a leader of the Quang Trung Ward People's Committee said that the initial cause of the fire was likely an electrical short circuit. "Every day, Mr. Minh and his wife went to work, and their children went to school. If it hadn't been a holiday, perhaps this tragic incident wouldn't have happened," the leader lamented.
According to the leader of the Quang Trung Ward People's Committee, this morning, May 13th, upon discovering the fire, Mrs. X. called her son for help, but Mr. Minh had already gone out. Because he lived far from home, by the time he returned, the fire had already broken out. At that moment, Mr. Minh rushed into the fire and tried to open the door, but the intense heat caused him injuries, preventing him from saving his mother and children.
"The house had an escape route. However, because the family had young children, it's possible that Mrs. X. was confused during the fire and couldn't find the escape route immediately, leading to this tragic incident," said the leader of the People's Committee of Quang Trung Ward, adding that authorities found the bodies of Mrs. X. and child H. on the third floor, while children P. and D. were found on the second floor.
Reportedly, the People's Committee of Quang Trung Ward has provided the victim's family with 30 million VND in support and assisted Mr. Minh's family in arranging the funerals for the victims.
Earlier today, at around 7:45 AM, upon discovering flames and thick smoke billowing from a three-story house in the area, residents living on Thanh Cong Street (Quang Trung Ward) reported the incident to the authorities, who arrived at the scene to extinguish the fire and rescue those in need.
Upon receiving the information, the Hanoi City Police dispatched the Fire Prevention, Firefighting and Rescue Team of Ha Dong District Police, and the Fire Prevention, Firefighting and Rescue Team of Area 4 ( thuộc the Fire Prevention, Firefighting and Rescue Police Department of Hanoi City Police) to the scene to carry out their duties.
The fire was completely extinguished at approximately 8:15 AM the same day. However, the fire resulted in 4 deaths and 1 injury.
The four victims have been identified as Mrs. NTX (67 years old) and her grandchildren NMP (10 years old), NQMĐ (8 years old), and NQMH (4 years old). The head of the household, Mr. Nguyen Quang Minh (40 years old), suffered burns to both hands and is currently receiving emergency treatment at Hospital 103. At the time of the fire, Mr. Minh's wife was at work and not at home.
