China's Peng Yuyan, 29 years old, suddenly became famous thanks to a self-recorded video with a face that many people believe "can help her husband become rich and successful".
The woman, who is from Henan Province, said she posted the video on her personal Douyin account in January. Initially, nothing unusual happened until early March, when the video suddenly went viral, attracting nearly 80,000 comments because of her "wang fu xiang" (husband-prospering face).
Many people commented that "they have never seen a face that has so many 'prosperous husband' features". Many husbands took this opportunity to share their wives' pictures to ask netizens if they have 'prosperous husband' features.

“Wangfuxiang” is a characteristic often mentioned in the Chinese culture of “face reading”. This culture is considered superstitious and has no scientific basis but still attracts many people. On the social network Xiaohongshu, the hashtag #wangfuxiang has more than 800,000 views.

China's "diving queen" Guo Jingjing, a four-time Olympic gold medalist, is often cited as a prime example of a face that brings luck to her husband. Renowned physiognomists in Hong Kong say that Jingjing's face has many of the characteristics of a "noble lady." At one time, her face became a model for women undergoing plastic surgery.
She married Hok Kai-gang, the grandson of the late Hong Kong billionaire Hok Ying-tung, in 2012. During the wedding, the groom's father declared: "Tinh Tinh being able to marry into my family is a blessing for the entire Hok family."
After getting married, Guo Jingxing and her husband had a happy life, she gave birth to three children. Jingxing herself studied business after retiring, was good at taking care of her children and supporting her husband in developing his career.
In China, in 2010, there was a contest to select "prosperous" wives for tycoons, attracting thousands of girls to participate. However, this type of contest was criticized by public opinion as degrading women's dignity, materializing marriage, and being old-fashioned and backward.
Although a husband-promoting face is considered an advantage by matchmakers, there is no link with a higher dowry.
