The incident happened in a village in Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh (India). The wedding of bride Gayatri Harprasad and groom Brajkishore Prajapati was taking place when it was suddenly ruined.
As the bride Gayatri was about to garland the groom, she heard loud wailing. A girl named Santoshi, who introduced herself as the groom's ex-girlfriend, suddenly appeared and wept.
In a fit of rage, the girl rushed forward and hit the bride, who had no idea what was happening. The fight and chaos lasted for several minutes, while the groom was bewildered and tried to stop it.
Both girls refused to back down, continuously attacking each other to the background music of the wedding in the hall.
The angry bride Gayatri left the wedding and called the police to intervene.
Local police quickly arrived at the wedding venue to deal with the incident. They calmed down the parties involved and asked them to come out and explain the incident.
The bride decided to cancel the wedding, asking the groom's family to pay all the wedding expenses, estimated at about 12,004 USD (more than 305 million VND). She also accused the groom's family of lying and not revealing information about his ex-girlfriend.

Meanwhile, the ex-girlfriend still firmly stayed by the groom's side, refusing to leave. She confirmed that she had been married to him for 4 years.
She said the two met through relatives. They fell in love and got married. But then one day, her husband suddenly left. When she learned that he was going to marry Gayatri, she immediately left even though the wedding venue was about 80km away from her home.
As for the groom Brajkishore, he denied the statements of his ex-girlfriend. He had only spoken to her over the phone. The villagers also said that there was no romantic relationship between him and the girl named Santoshi.
Earlier, the incident of a groom in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh state, canceling his wedding caused a stir. The bride's parents prepared a Maruti Suzuki WagonR car as a dowry for their daughter, but the groom was not satisfied. He demanded a Hyundai Creta car, but the bride's family did not have enough money to meet the request.
