On February 11, speaking with Tuoi Tre Online, a representative of Children's Hospital 2 (HCMC) said that after verification, the clip of a woman saying she was staged for pickpocketing in front of the hospital gate that has been circulating in recent days is not true.
Through inspection, the results of camera extraction of the hospital and surrounding business establishments on February 10 showed:
At 4:37 a.m., a woman carrying a baby walked from gate number 4 to Children's Hospital 2.
At 6:18, this person walked across the street to have breakfast, then re-entered the hospital in the lobby area and sat on the waiting chair. At 6:49, he went to the lobby area and turned on his phone to livestream.
The two continued in the hospital lobby until 12:37 pm through lunch and at 1:22 pm returned to the hospital.
At 2:08 p.m., the woman and the baby went to gate number 5 and took a motorbike taxi to leave.
So the information the woman shared on social media is completely false.
The conclusion from Ben Nghe Ward Police (District 1) said that there was no pickpocketing incident in front of Children's Hospital 2 as reported.
It is known that on February 10, this woman registered to examine the child around noon of the same day. The patient's CT scan results did not show any abnormalities, so the doctor only prescribed vitamins to take, and did not order hospitalization.
The hospital warned people not to continue spreading this video or transfer money to the account number provided by the woman.
Children's Hospital 2 would like to inform you that the unit has set up a customer care counter (belonging to the social work department) to be ready to support parents when bringing their children to the hospital for examination. When in need of assistance, parents can contact here for support from hospital staff.
As Tuoi Tre Online reported earlier, on February 10, social media went viral with a clip of a woman from Dak Lak hugging her child and crying in front of the gate of Children's Hospital 2 (HCMC).
According to this woman, at around 4:30 a.m. on February 10, she saved 9.5 million VND to take her child to Children's Hospital 2 for a check-up.
However, that same morning, while standing in front of the hospital gate, two strangers staged a scene and stole all 9.5 million VND. Luckily, the phone was stuffed in a diaper bag so it was not lost.
Therefore, the mother and child no longer have money to pay for medical examination, and must rely on the support of philanthropists. Sympathizing with the situation of the mother and child, many people said they sent money to support the child's medical examination.
