Both Viettel Club and Thanh Hoa Club only have one point in round 1 of Night Wolf V-League 2023-2024, so they are determined to win the match taking place at Hang Day Stadium on the evening of October 27.

After the referee blew the starting whistle, Thanh Hoa pushed up their formation to attack, pressuring Viettel Club. In the 4th minute, receiving the ball from a set piece situation from his teammate, striker Rimario headed the ball into Van Phong's net.
However, the linesman raised his flag for offside. In this situation, the video assistant referee (VAR) technology also confirmed that the away team's goal was invalid.

In the 17th minute, the referee blew a penalty for Thanh Hoa after Rimario fell in a dispute with Thanh Binh in Viettel's penalty area. VAR once again intervened, causing the match to be paused for 4-5 minutes.
After receiving a signal from the VAR referee team, referee Nguyen Manh Hai overturned the decision to award a penalty to Thanh Hoa, along with a yellow card to Rimario for diving. This decision caused a strong reaction from the away team's players.

In the 22nd minute, Hoang Duc fired a shot from outside the penalty area that went just wide of Thanh Hoa's goalpost. This was the home team's first dangerous opportunity since the start of the match.
In the final minutes, the match was tense, referee Manh Hai had to show many yellow cards to players of both teams. The first half ended with a score of 0-0.
In the second half, the match continued to be tense after Bui Tien Dung fouled Rimario in the middle of the field. Referee Nguyen Manh Hai even had to hold the foreign striker of Thanh Hoa when he saw him getting angry.

The match had 8 minutes of extra time. In the 90+5 minute, Hoang Duc's shot was blocked by a Thanh Hoa player, he immediately broke through and was fouled by Viet Tu in the penalty area. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty for Viettel Club. Hoang Duc was also hurt in this situation and had to seek medical attention.
On the 11m mark, striker Bruno Cunha successfully executed the penalty, equalizing 1-1 for the home team Viettel. This was also the final score of the match.
