Thai Son Nam Club crowned 2023 HDBank National Futsal Championship
In the final round of the 2023 HDBank National Futsal Championship, Thai Son Nam Club (29 points) needs at least 1 point against GFDI Song Han team to be sure of winning the championship without worrying about the result of the match at the same time between Sahako Club and Hanoi Club.
The away team GFDI Song Han was rated lower while the home team had the home field advantage at District 8 Stadium (HCMC). However, the Central representative played resiliently, making Thai Son Nam struggle. Not only was it difficult to get 3 points, Coach Gustavo Nicolas's students were confused throughout the match.
Defending tenaciously, coach Huynh Viet Nam's team kept the score 0-0 until the 39th minute. They even stunned Thai Son Nam with Khanh Huy's opening goal from a power-play effort.

Sahako will defend their championship if GFDI Song Han Club maintains the score of 1-0 until the end of the match, because Sahako Club also has 29 points like Thai Son Nam Club but has a better goal difference.
Coach Gustavo Nicolas had to consult and play a "all or nothing" power-play to find an equalizer for Thai Son Nam Club. With just over 30 seconds left in the match, Chau Doan Phat demonstrated the mettle of the star who scored the goal that brought Vietnam to the 2021 Futsal World Cup, with a very decisive shot into the far corner, defeating goalkeeper Duy Binh of GFDI Song Han Club.
Pham Duc Hoa received the Best Player award.
But the drama did not stop there. With only 12 seconds left in the match, it was Phuoc Hanh's turn to have a close-range shot after a mistake by the home team's defense. But in the critical moment, captain Van Vu threw himself to block the shot of GFDI Song Han captain.
Maintaining a thrilling 1-1 draw, Thai Son Nam Club officially took back the lead and the championship from rival Sahako. Coach Gustavo Nicolas's team has 30 points, just 1 point more than the 2022 champion.
The third-placed team is Thai Son Bac Club after a 1-0 victory over Cao Bang in the final round. The 2023 HDBank National Futsal Championship also marks the 12th championship for Thai Son Nam Club in 17 tournaments.
