-Sir, how do you evaluate the sharing economy in Vietnam after 4 years of implementing the Project to promote the sharing economy model ?
- After a period of pilot implementation, the sharing economy in Vietnam has made remarkable progress and contributed significantly to the economy in general. In particular, e-commerce (digital economy) is recording the highest growth rate. Thanks to the participation of a large number of workers in this sharing economy, it has contributed to creating many jobs and increasing income for people.
However, due to being in the early stages of development, there are still many missing regulations, leading to unsatisfactory service quality, lack of staff training, and even some disputes...
So what are the remaining problems in the current sharing economy model, sir?
- We do not have separate regulations for the sharing economy. If we have this additional motivation, we can ensure the development of the sharing economy in the right direction, healthy and sustainable.
However, in recent times, especially in 2023, the revised Law on Electronic Transactions and the revised Law on Consumer Protection have been passed. Along with these two newly revised laws, a series of new decrees will have to be revised to guide people to participate in the digital economy.
The main participants in the sharing economy are people, end consumers. Therefore, most activities in the sharing economy will tend to be small-scale rather than large-scale businesses. Regulations on consumer rights or e-commerce businesses will play a role in supporting people to participate in the sharing economy effectively.
According to you, what needs to be done to make the sharing economy go in the right direction, develop healthily and sustainably?
- First, it is necessary to provide more knowledge to people, especially those participating in the sharing economy. It can be short-term training courses or certified courses to ensure that they understand the regulations and responsibilities when participating in this model. In particular, it is necessary to highlight the application of origin extraction and technology to be transparent about the quality of products and goods, thereby enhancing responsibility.
In addition to the necessary skills, the ethics of participants also need to be focused on. Actions such as "exposing" on social networks, giving fake product reviews... show unprofessionalism, distorting consumer trust in the sharing economy.
We need to continue updating new regulations as well as developing technology platforms to motivate people to participate more in this economic model. At the same time, we need to control well issues related to taxes and quality of products and services.
Thank you!
