Narrowing the gap in living standards and income
In Binh Thuan province, there are currently 34 ethnic minority groups, with over 104,000 people, accounting for more than 8% of the province's population. According to the assessment of the Provincial People's Committee, in recent years, thanks to the attention and investment of all levels, sectors and localities, production in ethnic minority areas has developed quite well and productivity has increased.
Every year, the province has allocated a significant amount of budget capital to resolve land for production, contract management, forest protection, and infrastructure investment. Programs, projects, and policies for ethnic minority areas have made an important contribution to the implementation of the national target program and have been implemented quite well. Since then, the material and spiritual life of ethnic minorities in the province has been constantly improved. However, the current reality in ethnic minority and mountainous areas of the province still faces many difficulties, requiring continued attention, investment, and support.
Accordingly, in the implementation plan of the Provincial People's Committee on July 20, 2023, the goal was emphasized to exploit and improve the efficiency of agricultural land use, linking production and cultivation with gradually narrowing the gap in living standards, income, and sustainable poverty reduction. Comprehensively develop education, training, health care, and culture; preserve and promote the fine cultural identities of ethnic minorities, invest in cultural equipment, improve the material and spiritual life of the people. Implement gender equality and solve urgent problems for women and children, contributing to improving the material and spiritual life of the people; gradually narrowing the gap in living standards and income of ethnic minorities compared to the national average.
In particular, in 2023, the province will implement 10 important projects related to socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas. Project 1 is to solve the shortage of residential land, housing, production land, and domestic water. Including support for residential land, housing, production land, job conversion, and domestic water. Project 2 is to plan, arrange, and stabilize residents in necessary places. Improve spiritual life
In addition to economic development, the Program also focuses on investing in essential infrastructure to serve production and life in ethnic minority and mountainous areas and public service units in the ethnic sector (Project 4). To implement this Program, the Provincial People's Committee has assigned the Provincial Ethnic Committee to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments, branches and localities to advise, urge, guide the implementation and accelerate the disbursement of capital to implement projects, sub-projects and components of the Program.
