National Target Program 1719 contributes to maintaining and improving the quality of NTM criteria in the coastal border area of ​​Soc Trang province.

Implementing Project 1 under the National Target Program 1719, in 2024, housing support will be provided to 334 households with housing difficulties for ethnic minorities in Vinh Chau Town (Soc Trang).

Great motivation from National Target Program 1719

From 2021 to present, Vinh Chau has received investment attention from the Central Government and Soc Trang province through national target programs such as: National Target Program 1719, sustainable poverty reduction and new rural construction. The total investment for these 3 programs is more than 318.5 billion VND, of which the central budget accounts for the majority.

Particularly for the National Target Program 1719, from 2022 to 2024, Vinh Chau has been allocated a source of more than 124.5 billion VND. Accordingly, the province has prioritized improving infrastructure and people's lives. The town has built 28 rural traffic works, built a new market and upgraded three other markets, contributing to the economic development of the ethnic minority region.

The housing support program for people in Vinh Chau town has brought about remarkable achievements, contributing to improving the lives and building trust for ethnic minorities in the border areas. Mr. Duong Minh Tri, Head of the Ethnic Affairs Department of Vinh Chau town informed that in addition to the housing and land support policy, Vinh Chau also focuses on creating livelihoods, changing jobs, helping people stabilize their lives and escape poverty in a sustainable way.

“Along with social security programs, policies for prestigious people in ethnic minority areas are also given special attention by the town. Every year, these individuals receive gifts on holidays and Tet; are granted health insurance cards, Ethnic and Development newspapers, Soc Trang newspapers and are given opportunities to participate in tours and learn from experiences. This is also one of the sub-projects that the National Target Program 1719 has brought about,” Mr. Tri added.

Supporting career conversion is one of the sub-projects under the National Target Program 1719, helping ethnic minorities in the coastal border area of ​​Soc Trang have a stable income.

Maintain and improve the quality of new rural construction criteria

With the attention, direction and timely support of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee and provincial departments, ethnic affairs and ethnic policies in the town have been deployed synchronously and fully and promptly, receiving the consensus and support of all classes of people. Thereby, projects and sub-projects have been effective, basically meeting the essential needs of the majority of people in the coastal border area.

Mr. Tran Tri Van, Vice Chairman of Vinh Chau Town People's Committee, said that in addition to focusing on improving infrastructure, resources from the National Target Program 1719 have contributed to upgrading and building many cultural institutions and renovating Khmer pagodas in ethnic minority areas. This creates favorable conditions for people to maintain cultural activities, in order to preserve and promote the cultural identity of the nation.

“The locality has identified the National Target Program 1719 as a major policy of the Party and State for ethnic minorities. Since the implementation of the National Target Program 1719 up to now, investment projects and works have been and continue to be effective, contributing to the completion of many key goals and tasks in the socio-economic development of the locality, especially in basically solving essential needs in ethnic minority areas,” Mr. Van shared.

Mr. Duong Sa Kha, Secretary of the Town Party Committee, chaired a meeting to find solutions to eliminate temporary houses and sustainably develop the local coastal border area.

Talking about the upcoming goal, to sustainably develop the local ethnic minority area with the highest proportion of ethnic minorities in the province (nearly 70%), Mr. Duong Sa Kha, Secretary of Vinh Chau District Party Committee, commented: the awareness of cadres, party members and the entire political system about ethnic work and ethnic policies is increasingly raised, all cadres working on ethnic work have "learned their lessons" fluently, always standing side by side with the people to overcome difficulties, successfully completing assigned targets.

In addition, training activities, dissemination of legal education knowledge, honoring and praising advanced models... have become the driving force for prestigious people, dignitaries, and key forces to continue to promote their role in propagating and mobilizing ethnic minorities to comply well with the Party's policies and the State's laws.

With the support and investment contents to solve essential problems in ethnic minority areas from the National Target Program 1719, hundreds of ethnic minority households have houses, clean water, change jobs and upgrade; many traffic works in the area have been newly invested in, contributing to the completion of the rural traffic system.... The program has contributed to the locality continuing to maintain and improve the quality of criteria in building new rural areas.
