Mr. Do Duc Hoang, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Television, said that with the great stature and significance of the historic Dien Bien Phu victory, Vietnam Television determined that the propaganda for the 70th Anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory was an extremely important political task. Therefore, the station has developed a comprehensive propaganda plan early on, on a large scale with many key programs and implemented synchronously on all platforms.

The propaganda activities to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory were officially launched by VTV on March 13, 2024 in the 7 p.m. News bulletin. From there, a series of programs were launched on airwaves and digital platforms: "Uncle Ho's Soldiers", Vietnam awakens in Good Morning - VTV1; a series of reports on This Day in History, My Fathers Were Dien Bien Soldiers - VTV3; the "Dien Bien Glory" campaign on digital platforms; a series of reports in news bulletins on channels VTV8, VTV9, VTV Can Tho.
The programs commemorating the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory were invested in meticulously and carefully by VTV, mobilizing all forces from many units in the spirit of creative exploration, ensuring solemn content and profound meaning. Many programs were deployed simultaneously with diverse genres such as: documentaries ( Iron Elephant of Dien Bien, Dien Bien - Rendezvous of the Past and the Future ), reports ( Echoes of Dien Bien Phu ), exchange and discussion programs ( Dien Bien Song ), stage, television drama, music ( TV Theater - Dien Bien Calls, film Road to Dien Bien, Dien Bien Guitar... ), art exchange ( Rear and Frontline - Broadcast on May 6, 2024 on VTV8 channel)...; arranging to broadcast documentaries made by Vietnamese and foreign directors such as Dien Bien Phu Victory - Brilliant Epic - 3 episodes (Central Documentary and Scientific Film Studio), Dien Bien Phu Heroic Song (Army Cinema); Notably, the film Vietnam by director Roman Karmen, produced by the Central Documentary Film Studio of the Soviet Union. This is an artistic documentary of special historical value, produced in 1955, with the participation of Vietnamese filmmakers.
One of the highlights of the propaganda campaign to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory is the television bridge "Under the Flag of Victory" broadcast at 8:00 p.m. on May 5, 2024 on VTV1 channel. 5 bridge points - Ceremony Ground Area, Dien Bien Phu Victory Monument at D1 Hill (Dien Bien); Ba Dinh Square (Hanoi); Lam Son Square (Thanh Hoa); Kon Klor Communal House (Kon Tum) and Thu Ngu Flagpole Relic Site (HCMC) - bring stories and emotions in harmony with the heroic epic of Dien Bien. In particular, the Dien Bien Phu bridge point is designed in the space of the Dien Bien Phu Victory Monument, based on 56 steps symbolizing 56 days and nights of digging mountains and sleeping in tunnels to create the historic victory.
To prepare for the program, the Entertainment Program Production Team researched sources of documents and searched for historical witnesses to produce a reportage that would provide a comprehensive picture of the Dien Bien Phu victory with a new, emotional perspective. Music and poetry blended together to create an artistic connection throughout the program, contributing to spreading patriotism, spirit, and strength of Dien Bien Phu.

VTV special program "Dien Bien Phu - View from France": With only 4 months to research and film in Vietnam and France, VTV's special "Dien Bien Phu - View from France" was a rushed journey for the production team of the Foreign Television Department. The crew exploited the massive amount of documents about the campaign at the Archives Center of the French Ministry of Defense and the French National Assembly to access many newly declassified documents, many information that has not been or has rarely been mentioned about this historical event.
During the production process, the production team met with historical witnesses from France and Vietnam, consulted with experts, processed a huge amount of information, and used many vivid images combined with impressive graphics to present the content in a realistic yet captivating way.
VTV special "Dien Bien Phu - View from France" (broadcast at 8:10 p.m. on May 7, 2024 on VTV1) promises to bring valuable, never-before-revealed information to the audience about the Dien Bien Phu victory.
