( Bqp.vn ) - On the morning of January 9, in Hanoi, the Ministry of National Defense coordinated with the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee to organize a meeting of the Steering Committee of the National Scientific Conference to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025). Senior Lieutenant General Le Huy Vinh, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense, Head of the Steering Committee of the Conference chaired the meeting.

Attending the meeting were comrade Phan Van Mai, member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, Deputy Head of the Workshop Steering Committee; Lieutenant General Truong Thien To, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, Deputy Head of the Workshop Steering Committee.
It is expected that, with the theme "The Great Victory of Spring 1975 with the cause of building and defending the Socialist Republic of Vietnam", the conference will focus on affirming the correct and wise guidelines, policies, and leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh - the decisive factor in all victories of the Vietnamese revolution; the will and determination to liberate the South and unify the country. In addition, it will highlight the brave, tenacious, and creative fighting spirit of the people and armed forces of the whole country, directly the army and people of the South, deepening the unique military art in the resistance war against the US to save the country.
The conference also clarified the role of the great Northern rear and the great international support for the Vietnamese people. At the same time, it assessed the stature, historical significance, reasons for victory and lessons learned in the resistance war against the US to save the country in general, and the 1975 Spring General Offensive and Uprising in particular; applying and promoting in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

The workshop aims to affirm and clarify that the Great Victory of Spring 1975 was a victory of the will to unify the country and the aspiration for peace of the Vietnamese people, a victory of the Vietnamese spirit and intelligence and the strength of great national unity, associated with the strength of the times in the resistance war against the US to save the country; provide new documents, profound scientific arguments and bases, clarify the preparation process, developments of the Ho Chi Minh Campaign, the role and coordination of forces in the campaign.

The results of the workshop aim to honor and pay tribute to the heroic martyrs who fought and sacrificed for the cause of national liberation. At the same time, it contributes to propagating and educating cadres and soldiers in the armed forces and people nationwide to promote the glorious revolutionary tradition, continue to promote the cause of national renewal, and firmly protect the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam.
According to the plan, the workshop is expected to be held in April 2025, in Ho Chi Minh City. Concluding the meeting, Senior Lieutenant General Le Huy Vinh praised the relevant agencies for their close coordination and good preparation of the content related to the conference. Emphasizing that the conference is one of the important and practical activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, Senior Lieutenant General Le Huy Vinh requested that the conference theme should highlight the great stature of the Great Victory of Spring 1975 and promote the value and significance of the Great Victory in the new era, the era of national development. Agencies and units need to closely coordinate and do a good job of compiling and editing the conference proceedings, ensuring the quality of the content and closely reviewing and appraising important historical information and milestones, avoiding errors; adding more articles so that the conference proceedings are truly research and study materials in academies and schools, thereby educating the history and traditions of the younger generation.
