Quang Tri province currently has over 1,400 hectares of organically produced crops; of which the area for organic rice production, natural farming, organic farming, VietGAP, and food safety is 1,226.85 hectares.

According to the assessment of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, organic production models/projects have been clearly demonstrating their effectiveness in all three aspects of economy - society - environment. In addition, the province currently has more than 80 agricultural development projects, including 10 high-tech agricultural projects, applied in many fields of cultivation, livestock, aquaculture, forestry, and processing of agricultural, forestry and fishery products; more than 50 greenhouses and net houses for the production of safe and high-quality vegetables, tubers and fruits; more than 11,000 hectares of crops using and applying high technology in production organization... In addition, many enterprises and production facilities have been focusing on investing in the application of drying, preserving and processing technology of agricultural products.
However, the implementation of policies to support the development of organic agricultural production in the province has not met requirements; the area of organic rice production is slow to expand, reaching lower than the set target (by the end of 2023, it will only reach 34.6%) due to the limited awareness of a number of leaders, managers, especially producers, about clean agricultural production, organic agriculture associated with value chain linkage.
On the other hand, organic agricultural production areas have not been planned in accordance with the potential advantages of each region; the scale of organic production is still fragmented, small, and not highly commercial; the linkage between production and consumption of organic products is still limited, weak, and not really sustainable.
The biggest difficulty at present is that the replication of organic agricultural models, natural farming, high technology, and value chain linkages is still slow, with no breakthrough developments. Transport and irrigation infrastructure has not met the requirements for expanding the area of organic and high-tech agricultural production. On the other hand, the high cost of organic agricultural production and the long payback period have not attracted many businesses to invest.
In particular, some local Party committees and authorities are still not determined in directing the development of organic agriculture, natural farming, high technology and value chain linkage. According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in order for the development of high-tech agricultural production and organic agriculture to be truly effective, it is necessary to mobilize and integrate resources to promote the development of high-tech agricultural and organic agricultural models as a basis for replication in the area.
On the other hand, units and localities must always accompany and support businesses in surveying and selecting regions and areas with the potential to link to organize high-tech agricultural production and organic agriculture.
Promote research and coordination to transfer and apply more strongly science and technology to production in the area, especially new scientific and technological advances; strengthen promotion, trade promotion, product consumption linkage, proactively seek stable output markets for organic agricultural products.
