Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee directs students to 'eat clean'

TPO - In addition to the issues of building schools and recruiting enough teachers to meet teaching needs in the next school year, Mr. Tran Sy Thanh, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, requested attention to school meals.

Speaking at the Conference on the summary of the 2023-2024 school year and the deployment of tasks for the new 2024-2025 school year of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training on August 14, the Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee affirmed that the locality focuses all resources to comprehensively improve the quality of education in the capital.

Regarding schools, according to Mr. Thanh, the locality has allocated resources to build more schools at all levels. This school year, districts have put 39 schools into operation. Hoang Mai district alone, a “hot spot” for enrollment from last year to this year, has started construction on 17 schools and this year, 4 schools have been put into operation.

According to Mr. Thanh, one of the issues that city leaders are particularly concerned about is ensuring food safety in schools.

“School food is very important. Many students eat two meals a day at school and one meal in front of the school gate, so first of all, they must eat clean food,” said Mr. Thanh.

The Chairman of the City People's Committee requested relevant units to strengthen regulations and supervision to ensure the origin of clean food and meals of sufficient quality and quantity. In particular, it requires business units and kitchens that meals costing 30,000 VND must ensure the quality of 30,000 VND, of which there is profit, and must not cut corners.

“We request that leaders of districts, towns, and relevant Departments of Education and Training pay special attention to this issue. No matter how smart a student is, if he or she is in poor health, he or she cannot do anything. This must be done with all conscience and responsibility,” the Chairman of the City People’s Committee requested.
