On the afternoon of August 5, at the National Assembly House, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Vietnam Hung Ba to say farewell at the end of his term of office.

On behalf of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man Sincere thanks for the special feelings and deep comradely affection of Chinese comrades towards the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
On the day General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong passed away, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China sent a message of condolences to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
General Secretary and President Xi Jinping was the first foreign leader to pay his respects to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the Vietnamese Embassy in Beijing; Politburo Standing Committee member and Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Wang Huning, as the Special Representative of General Secretary and President Xi Jinping, visited Vietnam to attend the funeral of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
All of these have demonstrated the sentiments of the Party, State and people of China and of General Secretary and President Xi Jinping personally towards the relationship between the two Parties and two countries and towards the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong personally.
The National Assembly Chairman emphasized: Vietnam and China are close neighbors, and the people of the two countries have a long tradition of friendship. The two countries have similar political regimes and both follow the path of socialism under the leadership of the Communist Party.

Vietnam always remembers and is grateful for the great, wholehearted and righteous support of the Party, State and people of China in the past struggle for national independence and reunification as well as in the cause of national construction and defense today.
The National Assembly Chairman stated: Developing relations with China has always been a consistent policy, a strategic choice, and a top priority in Vietnam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, and diversification.
Appreciating the important contributions of Ambassador Hung Ba and the staff of the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam during the past term, the National Assembly Chairman said that the Ambassador successfully organized the visit to China by the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong (October 2022) and the visit to Vietnam by General Secretary and President Xi Jinping (December 2023).
The two sides also actively support each other to overcome the Covid-19 epidemic. China is one of the countries that provides the most and fastest vaccines to Vietnam.
The National Assembly Chairman also said: During nearly 6 years working in Vietnam (since September 2018), Ambassador Hung Ba has made important contributions to promoting the relationship between the two Parties and two countries to continuously develop to new heights.
The National Assembly Chairman highly appreciated the role of Ambassador Hung Ba in the efforts to strengthen the cooperative relationship between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the National People's Congress of China, which has been continuously consolidated and developed in depth.
The two sides maintain exchanges in many flexible forms; contact, consult, and closely coordinate at regional and international parliamentary forums, especially the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).

Ambassador Hung Ba respectfully thanked National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man for taking the time to meet him; expressed his deepest condolences on the passing of the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong; and emphasized that the passing of the late General Secretary was a great loss to the Party, State, and people of Vietnam as well as a great loss to the relationship between the two Parties and the two countries of China and Vietnam.
Ambassador Hung Ba congratulated President To Lam on his election as General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam. General Secretary and President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to General Secretary and President To Lam; emphasizing his readiness to work with General Secretary and President To Lam to continue to orient the relationship between the two Parties and the two countries of China and Vietnam; and to promote the "Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of Strategic Significance" to continuously deepen.
The Ambassador also expressed his gratitude to the leaders of the Party, State, ministries, branches, agencies and localities of Vietnam for supporting and creating favorable conditions for the Ambassador to successfully complete his duties in Vietnam.

Ambassador Hung Ba said that the cooperation between the two Parties and the two countries in the fields of economy, trade, people-to-people exchange, etc. has achieved great achievements, including the important role of the Vietnamese National Assembly; affirmed his readiness to work with the Vietnamese National Assembly to increase the exchange of experiences in legislative work, supervision, and building a socialist rule-of-law state; and believed that in the coming time, the Vietnamese National Assembly will continue to play a greater role in promoting relations and strengthening friendship between the two countries.
