The Office of the Hanoi People's Committee has just issued a document conveying the opinion of Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh to the Department of Construction and related units requesting to inspect and handle information about the quality of sidewalk construction in the area.

Specifically, recently, public opinion has reflected that the sidewalks in the districts of the capital have seriously degraded, causing loss of urban beauty, affecting traffic safety and people's daily life. This situation has created public opinion and indignation among the people.

To rectify investment and post-investment management of sidewalks, Hanoi City has issued many documents directing the Department of Construction, Department of Transport, and People's Committees of districts to strengthen inspection, promptly maintain and repair sunken, cracked, broken, peeling, and degraded sidewalks to ensure construction quality and urban aesthetics.

However, this situation continues on many streets, especially in central areas of the capital.

To promptly remedy the above situation, the Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee assigned the Department of Construction to preside over and coordinate with the People's Committees of districts to urgently inspect, review, and have timely handling plans.

The Chairman of Hanoi requested units to strengthen inspection and supervision to ensure the quality of pavement construction in districts. At the same time, strictly handle construction units with poor quality, not ensuring technical standards and construction life as prescribed.

In addition, the Chairman of Hanoi assigned the Department of Construction to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Transport and related units to inspect and review the pavement design model, clearly define the conditions, requirements, and criteria for pavement materials (type, size)... to ensure that they are suitable for the characteristics and nature of pavement use in each area.

On that basis, guide the People's Committees of districts, project investors in designing and constructing sidewalks; ensure quality, longevity of the project, avoid waste.
