On May 22, speaking with Thanh Nien reporter, the representative of My Thuan project management board (under the Ministry of Transport), the investor of Rach Mieu 2 bridge project, said that in the morning of the same day, the remaining amount of 212 billion VND for site clearance (GPMB) was transferred to the Tien Giang Provincial Land Fund Development Center, the unit assigned by Tien Giang Provincial People's Committee to be directly in charge of GPMB for Rach Mieu 2 bridge project.
Houses in Tien Giang are still on the construction site of Rach Mieu 2 Bridge.
This amount should have been transferred to Tien Giang province earlier, but due to some procedures, it has only been implemented now, a bit slow compared to the demand for construction site for the project.
Accordingly, the investor received 9.65/9.65km (100%) on the Ben Tre side, while the Tien Giang side only handed over 7.54/7.95km (about 95%).
Specifically, on the road section belonging to Tien Giang province (under package XL-01), in reality, up to now, there are still 290m (not continuous) scattered on the section belonging to the intersection with National Highway 1, along DT870 road and Dong Tam snake farm intersection that has not been handed over by Tien Giang province.
In addition, Tien Giang province is slow to relocate infrastructure, including electricity and telecommunications (the road expansion on both sides of DT.870 road), which also makes it difficult to speed up the construction progress. The urgent problem now is to have an access road from DT.864 road to the construction area of pier A2 of Xoai Hot bridge, but this section is still stuck with households who have not yet handed over the site.
The Tien Giang approach bridge (part of package XL-03) has not received full site clearance (about 120m left to be handed over) and is facing difficulties and limited access to the construction site for half of the package located in Chau Thanh district, Tien Giang.
There are still 8 households in Tien Giang that have not agreed to receive compensation for land acquisition and clearance for many reasons.
Previously, on May 21, speaking to the press, Mr. Tran Thanh Ba, Director of the Land Fund Development Center of Tien Giang province, said that the locality was facing difficulties because it had not yet received the final total amount of land acquisition and clearance that the investor was obliged to transfer. Therefore, the land acquisition and clearance work of the Rach Mieu 2 bridge project and the resettlement area of this project could not be completed yet.
According to Mr. Ba, currently, 968 households in Tien Giang have handed over clean land for the construction of Rach Mieu 2 Bridge and the resettlement area of the project; 24 households have not yet received compensation and support. Of these, 8 households have not yet received compensation and support but have been persuaded by the authorities of Tien Giang province to agree to hand over the land, the remaining 16 households have not yet handed over.
The report of the My Thuan Project Management Board shows that, up to now, the total construction volume of 6 packages of the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge project has reached nearly 47% (more than 1,551/3,302 billion VND for the construction part) of the total volume, basically meeting the project completion plan in 2025. Of which, the bridge part has basically completed 3/6 bridges, the remaining 3 bridges are under construction and still have land clearance problems. The Rach Mieu 2 main bridge project alone is ahead of schedule. The road part has been implemented for 13.74 km/14.07 km.
