Prime Minister requests completion of Long Thanh airport on schedule

(NLDO)- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that by December 31, 2025, Long Thanh airport must be basically completed so that test flights can be conducted.

On the afternoon of March 20, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh inspected the scene and presented gifts to workers at the Long Thanh airport construction site.

Here, the Prime Minister hopes that the workers will overcome all difficulties, work in "3 shifts, 4 shifts", "eat and sleep quickly", "overcome the sun, overcome the rain, not lose to the storm", "only work, no retreat" to speed up the construction progress of the items; at the same time, focus on ensuring quality, technical requirements, aesthetics, labor safety, and environmental sanitation.

According to reports from the authorities, the total value of component project 3 (essential works in the airport with a total investment of VND 99,000 billion) has reached nearly 40% of the total volume of work performed so far; 3/14 packages have been basically completed, 8/11 packages are under construction, and contractors are being selected for 3/11 packages.

For package 5.10 (passenger terminal), construction output reached 35.36%.

As for runways, taxiways, and aircraft parking lots, the construction output has reached 76.34%; it is expected to complete and put the runways and taxiways into technical operation before April 30, 2025.

Currently, all bidding packages of component project 3 - Long Thanh airport phase 1 are in the process of urgent implementation. ACV and contractors are striving to focus all resources to basically complete the entire construction before December 31, 2025.

Meanwhile, component project 1 (headquarters of state management agencies), component project 2 (works serving flight management)... are being accelerated by authorities and construction units.

Concluding the working session at Long Thanh airport, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that by December 31, 2025, Long Thanh airport must be basically completed so that test flights can be conducted.

The Prime Minister requested that the target of completion by the end of 2025 remain unchanged, and that if progress is not ensured, the person responsible be replaced. At the same time, once the airport is completed, the connecting transport projects must also be completed.

Regarding component project 1 (headquarters of agencies), other ministries and branches basically meet the schedule. The Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to fulfill its commitment to complete the quarantine agency headquarters project by the end of 2025. If it is not completed, it will continue to review and handle responsibilities with the spirit of clear people, clear work, clear progress, clear responsibilities, and clear products.

The Prime Minister inspected the progress of the T1 and T2 routes connecting Long Thanh airport. To date, the output has reached nearly 76%, and the T1 route is expected to be technically opened to traffic on April 30, 2025, the T2 route is expected to be completed in July 2025, the intersections will be completed, the entire project will be accepted, and it will be put into use on September 2, 2025 (3 months ahead of schedule).

Assessing Component Projects 2 and 3, the Prime Minister said that the heaviest workload is still Component Project 3; requested the investor to urge contractors to speed up the progress of packages and items that are being delayed.

For Component Project 4, the Prime Minister decided to immediately assign Lot 1 and 2 to Vietnam Airlines, Lot 3 and 4 to Vietjet as aircraft maintenance area; required units to put national interests first; by December 31, 2025, this item must be completed, ensuring modern technology, meeting requirements. State management agencies create equal access conditions for businesses.
