BBK - Up to now, Cho Moi district has attracted many businesses to invest in the wood processing industry. Thanks to that, the forest economy has developed strongly, helping to change the face of the countryside and improve the quality of life for the people.

According to the results of the announcement of the forest status in 2021, the area of planted forests in Cho Moi district is 20,401 hectares, accounting for about 1/5 of the total area of planted forests in the province. Resolution No. 04-NQ/HU dated December 15, 2020 on developing chain production of some key agricultural and forestry products of Cho Moi district to improve the lives of rural areas associated with new rural construction in the period of 2021 - 2025 sets the target of planting 4,800 hectares of post-exploitation forests/5 years; planting 1,200 hectares of scattered forests/5 years.
Accordingly, in 2022, the district planted more than 1,000ha/830ha, reaching 120% of the plan; planted 250/150ha of scattered forests; planted 670.4/650ha of post-harvest forests; planted 80/30ha according to the Forestry Project; planted 100ha of key trees (cinnamon). The total budget for the district to support the planting of scattered forests and key trees in 2021 and 2022 is about 3.2 billion VND.
Mr. Bui Nguyen Quynh, Head of the District's Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said: The output of exploited forest products has brought high economic value to the people. In 2021, the total volume of exploited planted forest wood was 61,450m3 , non-timber forest products were 3,812 ster of firewood, bringing in an income of about 50 billion VND. In 2022, the total volume of exploited planted forest wood was more than 67,000m3 ; non-timber forest products were 6,091 ster of firewood, 1,217 tons of star anise, 324 tons of cinnamon bark, the total income from wood and non-timber forest products from planted forests reached over 95 billion VND.

Mr. Quynh added: Currently, many investors have invested in the wood processing sector, in Thanh Binh Industrial Park and Quang Chu Industrial Cluster. Specifically, in Thanh Binh Industrial Park, there are currently 4 large enterprises producing and processing wood for export such as: Lechenwood Vietnam Co., Ltd., Govina Investment Joint Stock Company, Hong Ngoc Production and Trading Co., Ltd., Anh Binh Plywood Co., Ltd., providing jobs for more than 1,000 people. Most of the products are exported to markets such as the US, Korea, Malaysia, Japan, etc.
In Quang Chu commune alone, according to statistics, there are currently 13 enterprises, cooperatives, and individual business households investing in building factories and going into production. The main investment field of enterprises is plywood processing. A typical example is Duong Thanh Wood Company Limited investing in a factory in Deo Vai 2 village, specializing in peeling and producing plywood.
It can be seen that, from the strategic vision, up to now, Cho Moi district has created a sustainable forest wood material area, thereby attracting hundreds of investors from small-scale to industrial processing, bringing stable jobs to thousands of workers. Along with that, thousands of households have jobs from forest planting, the appearance of the countryside and people's lives are changing every day.
Currently, the district is planning to continue expanding many industrial clusters, attracting investors - especially in the field of wood processing, both increasing budget revenue and developing the local socio-economy./.
