Coming to An Giang, tourists not only have the opportunity to visit the sacred Ba Chua Xu Pagoda on Sam Mountain, but can also visit many other famous places, including ancient churches and monasteries.
Up to now, many domestic and foreign tourists know that An Giang has many sacred pagodas, unique landscapes with different architectural styles, including pagodas with Kinh architecture or Khmer architecture. Among them, Ba Chua Xu Pagoda on Sam Mountain is very crowded, especially in the first days of the new year. Besides, there are many other pagodas such as Long Son on Sam Mountain, Van Linh on Cam Mountain, Koh Kas Pagoda, Lau Pagoda (Phuoc Lam Pagoda), Tay An... If you come to Cho Moi land, the ancient monastery with more than 150 years old located on a branch of Tien River will make all worries go away.
Early in the morning, when the streets were still deserted, from My Luong town, crossing the bridge over a branch of the Tien River in the Cu Lao Gieng area (this is the island that divides the Tien River in this area into two branches), just past the bridge, the peaceful, ancient Phanxico monastery appeared before my eyes in the early morning. The simple entrance gate with rows of bricks stained with time, exuded a rustic, gentle look.
Phanxico Monastery is located in Tan Binh hamlet, Tan My commune (Cho Moi district, An Giang) and is over 150 years old.
In the early morning, there was only a person sweeping leaves in the quiet scene and a dog running around. In the distance was a monastery with bold European architecture at the end of two rows of cool green trees.
The monastery was built in the Gothic style.
The monastery has pointed arches, many windows and is also larger in size, so it looks ancient.
The structure of the monastery is quite simple, consisting of 3 symmetrical rows of houses forming a U shape. This place used to be the Priest Training Seminary for the Diocese of Nam Vang. To this day, the church, kitchen, priest's house, and retreat house still remain.
Father Phanxico Truong Buu Diep (from Con Phuoc, Cho Moi, An Giang) used to practice at Phanxico monastery.

In the early morning, when there are no visitors, the Franciscan monastery has a quiet, ancient beauty.
In the ancient monastery grounds there is a bookstore open to readers.
