Currently, Bach Hoa Xanh supermarkets in Ho Chi Minh City have been selling shrimp that meet US and European export standards from the "king of shrimp" Minh Phu at prices ranging from 165,000-185,000 VND/kg, depending on the promotion program, surprising many customers.
On March 26, the mini supermarket chain Bach Hoa Xanh signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Minh Phu Group - a large shrimp exporter in Vietnam supplying to demanding markets such as the US, Japan, and Europe. The agreement aims to bring shrimp lines that meet export standards to Japan, the US, and the EU, raised in an antibiotic-free, chemical-free environment by Minh Phu, to be distributed in the Bach Hoa Xanh system.
At the signing ceremony, a representative of Minh Phu Seafood Corporation said: In terms of market share, Minh Phu shrimp is mainly exported and currently only a small part is for domestic consumption (less than 1%). Therefore, this strategic cooperation aims to increase domestic market share to 5% -10% and provide domestic consumers with fresh, quality products.
Mr. Le Minh Quang - Founder and General Director of Minh Phu - explained that Minh Phu's domestic shrimp market share is low because the price is 20%-30% higher than the market price, so its competitiveness is not high. This comes from the fact that shrimp of quality that meets export standards must be carefully invested in all stages from farming to processing.
However, in recent times, Minh Phu has successfully researched and raised shrimp using Minh Phu BiO biotechnology, so the quality is high and the price is cheaper. "Raising shrimp using Minh Phu Bio technology will maintain the quality of delicious, sweet shrimp meat, clean shrimp without antibiotics, shrimp that meets export standards but the price is lower than before. We want to offer the lowest price so that our people can enjoy it. Moreover, the new technology will protect the environment and contribute to bringing economic benefits to associated farmers. Minh Phu shrimp currently supplied domestically is a product that meets export standards to the US, EU and other countries. Therefore, consumers can be completely assured of the quality", Mr. Le Minh Quang affirmed.
The mini supermarket chain Bach Hoa Xanh has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Minh Phu Group to bring shrimp lines that meet export standards to domestic consumers.
Mr. Pham Van Trong, General Director of Bach Hoa Xanh, said: In the past, we often thought that delicious products were for export, but Bach Hoa Xanh is doing the opposite. Now, consumers, especially housewives, can buy shrimp products that meet export standards to take care of Vietnamese family meals. With a system of 1,700 supermarkets nationwide and a standardized process, Bach Hoa Xanh has the capacity to receive shrimp from Minh Phu according to the correct standards. Currently, Bach Hoa Xanh supermarkets in Ho Chi Minh City have been selling Phu Minh shrimp. Regarding the process, after being scooped up from the pond, live shrimp will be put in ice water to keep them in a dormant state, helping the shrimp to be fresh, delicious and firm. The shrimp are immediately transferred to Bach Hoa Xanh's warehouse. From here, the shrimp will be distributed to supermarkets, continuously preserved on trays with water and ice at a temperature of 0-4 degrees Celsius to ensure quality when reaching customers.
