The photos 'Sheep Farming Of The Cham People' and "Hand Of Ripe Rice Season" by a Vietnamese man won prizes at an international photo contest.
Recently, the work "Sheep Farming Of The Cham People" won the Second Prize and the work "Hand Of Ripe Rice Season" by Vietnamese photographer Cao Ky Nhan won the Impressive Prize in the Food In The Field category of the international photo contest Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year 2024. Sharing with Thanh Nien , Mr. Nhan said that he only learned about this international photo contest in recent years. At first, he thought this was a contest specializing in culinary photography. He pursues the landscape and daily life genres, so he thought it was not suitable for him. Later, he learned more about the contest and found that the "Food in the field" category was suitable for the genre he was pursuing. He decided to try his hand when the contest announced that there were a few days left before the contest ended.

"Luck smiled on me when I had 2 photos entered into the prize pool of the "Food in the field" category. I was very happy to receive the prize pool notification from the contest's Organizing Committee because the result exceeded my expectations," said Mr. Nhan. With the photo "Sheep Farming Of The Cham People" he took in Bac Ai District, Ninh Thuan. This is not a new topic. He had taken the photo several times but the weather and light were not good so he did not get a satisfactory work. When he arrived here, he observed the surroundings and knew the path the sheep were taking back.

"Then I started taking pictures of the sheep walking back and forth slowly. When calculating the distance the sheep traveled compared to the focal length of the camera, I decided to run up the Cam Lam - Vinh Hao highway (the shooting time was December 31, 2023, the highway section was not yet open to traffic). On the highway, taking pictures of the sheep's path captured a beautiful lighting effect, creating a frame-in-frame composition. I got a really satisfying photo," Nhan shared. With the photo "Hand Of Ripe Rice Season", he took it on his first visit to the terraced fields in Mu Cang Chai District, Yen Bai. The rice fields are combined like a five-fingered hand. What Nhan needed to do was wait for someone to step into that corner of the photo. Finally, he captured the moment when a mother carrying her child stepped into the "hand of the ripe rice season". "The area where the photo "Sheep Farming Of The Cham People" was taken, my camera was having trouble because of the waves hitting it early in the morning. I was able to fix it so it didn't affect the photo shoot much. As for the photo "Hand Of Ripe Rice Season", I found the road to the shooting location a bit difficult," said photographer Viet.
Photographer Cao Ky Nhan is from Phu Yen and has won awards at many international photo contests.

Not only with 2 winning works in this competition, most of the works that Mr. Nhan took aim at the peace and gentleness of life. This is also a part of his personality. "Participating in international photography competitions, in addition to wanting to challenge myself, gain more knowledge from world photographers, I also want to promote the beautiful landscapes and unique cultural features of Vietnam to international friends", Mr. Nhan expressed. Stemming from his love for nature and travel, since 2016, the young man started his photography career. In the beginning, he encountered many difficulties when he had to learn and study the skills and techniques in photography by himself. Until now, he has always found a way to pursue, constantly learning, improving his knowledge and skills even more.
