The romantic love story of Dinh Xuan Hap (33 years old, from Quang Binh ) and Ikeda Yuria (25 years old, from Shizuoka province, Japan) received many blessings and admiration from the online community. That is also the joy and motivation for the couple to continue to nurture their family.
Sweet love story
Sharing with Thanh Nien, Mr. Hap said that in 2016 he came to Japan as a trainee. He is Catholic so he visited Yoshida Church (Shizuoka province) and met Ms. Yuria there. The two became friends and got married there. "In Japan, only about 1% of people follow Catholicism, so when I saw her helping with the ceremony at the church, I was very surprised. She is innocent, cute and gentle," Mr. Hap said.

He boldly asked for Yuria's Facebook with the hope of talking about culture and improving his Japanese. He found the other person wonderful not only in appearance but also in soul and sincerity. "My Japanese is limited, so it was difficult to talk and express my feelings to her so she could understand. Sometimes I had to ask my teachers and friends to help me. After being friends and talking for about 3 months, I confessed my love and received her approval on April Fool's Day (April 1)," Mr. Hap recalled. The following days, even though he worked overtime until 9 p.m., he still saw Yuria waiting in front of his room. In the weather of -2 to -5 degrees Celsius, the girl rode her motorbike back and forth more than 80 km to bring him lunch. The Japanese girl also did not hesitate to hold hands in the middle of a crowd as a way to show her affection.
The story of a Vietnamese husband and Japanese wife is admired by many people.

Yuria's impression of Hap is that he is mature, individualistic and lovable. She is shy and not good at communication, but when she is with him, she feels secure and comfortable talking. He is also gentle, thoughtful, caring and a good listener. For those reasons, she decided to choose him as a solid support in life. "My joy is that every time I come home from school, I will visit him by bus or motorbike. We date together, go to the beach, go out to eat, ride bicycles... The bus stop to his boarding house is a bit far, about 30 minutes, but whenever I have free time, I want to be with him," the Japanese wife shared.
Orange crate for engagement
Because he came as a trainee, it was very difficult to sponsor his parents to come to Japan to ask for their hand in marriage. Because he wanted to ensure that his love was certain, he went to his girlfriend's house to propose in 2019. She wanted him to imitate her father in the past: pick oranges from the garden, dry the oranges, and wrap a gift with sincerity to propose to her mother.

"I followed suit, went to buy oranges, cleaned each one and packed it into a box as a gift for her mother. I also bought a bottle of wine that Yuria's mother liked and ingredients to show off my pho cooking skills to treat the family," Mr. Hap shared. That day, Ms. Yuria's relatives came early, cleaned the house and arranged small, pretty vases of flowers. In the evening, Ms. Noriko, Ms. Yuria's mother, came home from work and saw all her children gathered together. Mr. Hap appeared in a formal suit, which surprised her. During the intimate meal, he confessed that he had loved her daughter for 3 years and came to propose so that both sides could trust each other. With the girl's family's consent, they got engaged at the end of 2019 and held a wedding in Vietnam last May.

Mr. Hap said that in life, there are times when they get angry and argue, but both of them calmly sit down to analyze and share their feelings. Sometimes there is selfishness, both of them play rock-paper-scissors, if the loser has to apologize and shake hands to forgive each other. Mr. Hap's wife has been to Vietnam 4 times and is extremely impressed with the natural beauty and the lovely people. "What's special about my hometown Quang Binh is that it is a peaceful village, the people are always smiling and gentle. Every time I come back, my family and relatives all come to visit and help me," Ms. Yuria confided. The couple has a beautiful, adorable one-and-a-half-year-old daughter. At home, he often speaks to her in Vietnamese and his wife speaks Japanese so that the child will not be confused by the language when she returns home.
