The dance performances "Always Remember Us This Way" and "Lonely on the sofa" by ACB Chairman Tran Hung Huy caused a "fever".
Mr. Tran Hung Huy was born on December 4, 1978, the eldest son of Mr. Tran Mong Hung - one of the founders of Asia Commercial Bank (ACB). Mr. Huy's mother is Ms. Dang Thi Thu Thuy - a member of the Board of Directors of this bank.
In 2002, Mr. Hung Huy graduated with a master's degree in business administration from Chapman University (USA). In 2011, he defended his doctoral thesis in economics at Golden Gate University (USA).
After graduating from Chapman University, Mr. Huy applied for a job as a salesman at ACB without telling his family. Only when he was accepted to work at ACB did Mr. Huy inform his parents. After working at ACB for 3 years, Mr. Huy returned to the US to pursue a doctorate, while still a low-level employee.
In 2010, ACB was a listed bank with tens of thousands of shareholders and was the number one joint stock bank in Vietnam. At that time, ACB had a series of veteran members in the financial community both domestically and internationally, so few people thought Mr. Huy would be the chairman of the board of directors.
But in 2012, ACB had the Kien incident, the chairmanship of this bank was left vacant and it seemed that no one wanted to take it. In that context, Mr. Tran Hung Huy, who was holding the position of Deputy General Director of ACB, 34 years old, was promoted to the highest position. Later, Mr. Huy confided that "he became chairman without any preparation". And until now, no one has broken Mr. Huy's record of being the youngest person elected chairman of a bank.
When he became Chairman of the Board of Directors of ACB, many people thought that Mr. Tran Hung Huy was a temporary choice when the bank was in crisis and no one wanted to sit in the "hot seat". However, 6 months later, at the 2013 shareholders' meeting and the following meetings, Mr. Huy continued to sit in the chair of the board of directors. Perhaps the business results at ACB were the reason why shareholders and members of the board of directors continued to choose Mr. Huy.
Currently, Mr. Tran Hung Huy is holding 115,730,000 ACB shares, worth about 2,900 billion VND.
ACB Chairman Tran Hung Huy is considered a special bank chairman, the only bank chairman in Vietnam to have a public Facebook account. On his personal page, ACB Chairman often posts photos of himself exercising. In addition to going to the gym, Tran Hung Huy also participates in many other sports such as cycling, rowing... In his banking culture, he also encourages employees and subordinates to exercise.
Currently, Mr. Huy's influence on Facebook may have begun to "upgrade" when a clip of him singing and dancing with his colleagues at ACB during the 25th anniversary celebration was leaked.
It was a mashup with a series of hits such as “Ngay mai em di”, “Sau tat ca”, “Uptown Funk”, “Attention”… with a youthful, dynamic style and completely different from the serious look that people thought of a bank president. Since then, Mr. Huy appeared in public and posted on Facebook more than before.
On the evening of June 4, at the gala celebrating the 30th anniversary of ACB, Mr. Tran Hung Huy continued to cause a stir when he combined playing the guitar, singing and dancing "extremely hot" on stage with the songs "Always Remember Us This Way" and "Lonely on the sofa" which have been very popular recently.
Mr. Huy said that this performance was like a thank you to the founders and bankers who have always believed in ACB for the past 30 years, just like the song "You found the light in me that I couldn't find". The clip was quickly shared on social networks, making many people excited.
