Re-scoring the 10th grade exam after the specialized benchmark scores are available, are candidates at a disadvantage?

Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training will announce 10th grade exam scores on June 20.

Many parents sent feedback to Thanh Nien Newspaper expressing their concerns regarding the announcement of 10th grade exam scores and the need for exam review by candidates registering for specialized schools and classes.

"The deadline for the review results is June 30, but the latest deadline to complete the admission procedures for specialized schools and classes is 4 p.m. on June 29. So, if candidates who register for specialized schools and classes and have their exam results reviewed will not be able to enter specialized schools and classes because they are late in submitting their application? So are these candidates at a disadvantage?", according to the feedback sent by parents to Thanh Nien Newspaper.

In response to concerns and questions from parents, Mr. Vo Thien Cang, Head of the Department of Examination and Quality Control of the Department of Education and Training, said that candidates who re-examine their 10th grade exam results will be guaranteed their rights if the re-examination results are higher and they are admitted to specialized schools and classes according to the previously announced benchmark scores.

After completing the review of the 10th grade exam, the Department of Education and Training will announce the exam scores and at the same time have a list of additional students admitted to specialized schools and classes. Based on that, candidates will go to the school to submit their admission application according to regulations.

According to the plan, the Department of Education and Training is expected to announce the admission scores for grade 10 schools, specialized and integrated classes on June 24. Candidates admitted to specialized high schools, high schools that organize integrated English programs and direct admission must submit their admission applications to the schools they have been admitted to from June 25 to before 4:00 p.m. on June 29.

Candidates who are admitted after receiving the review results (June 30) will submit their application for admission to specialized and integrated schools and classes on July 5.

However, Mr. Cang informed that because the time for submitting admission applications to specialized schools and classes (from June 25 to 29) coincides with the high school graduation exam dates, the Department of Education and Training will make appropriate adjustments so as not to affect the application submission of candidates as well as the organization of exam sites at high schools.
