Day River Bridge on Ninh Binh - Hai Phong Expressway

(Dan Tri) - The Ninh Binh - Hai Phong expressway has not yet started construction, but the 2km-long Day River overpass, with a total investment of nearly 1,500 billion VND, has gradually taken shape.

The Day River overpass project connecting Ninh Binh and Nam Dinh provinces on the Ninh Binh - Nam Dinh - Thai Binh - Hai Phong expressway (Ninh Binh - Hai Phong expressway) was implemented at the end of 2023. To date, the project has completed about 60% of the work volume. It is expected that by the end of 2024, this bridge with a total length of 2km will be closed.

The Day River Overpass has a total investment of 1,450 billion VND, connecting Yen Khanh District (Ninh Binh) and Nghia Hung District (Nam Dinh). The project has a scale of 4 lanes, including a river overpass about 1.36km long with a cross-section of 19.5m wide; an approach road about 0.64km long, 19m wide and branches connecting to Bai Dinh - Kim Son Road (Ninh Binh) with the development axis road (Nam Dinh).

The contractor representative said that up to now, the project has completed 100% of bored piles, 28/28 pier bases, basically completed 2 abutments (M1, M2), 26/28 pier bodies and 20/24 cap beams, and is implementing the construction of cap beams and the remaining on-land pier bodies. The total workload is about 60%. The entire construction site has about 200 workers working in shifts day and night, trying to meet the set schedule.

The Day River Bridge is located upstream of Tam Toa ferry terminal. The bridge consists of 29 spans, the main bridge consists of 3 continuous spans of prestressed reinforced concrete box girders with balanced cantilever. The two sides of the river cross the left and right dikes of the Day River with a height of 4.75m, ensuring flood drainage as well as clear and safe waterway and road transport on the dike surface.

According to the contractor representative, the two main pillars of the river crossing bridge (pillars T12 and T13) under the Day River faced the most difficulties. However, the unit has completed the construction of the two pillars and installed a tower crane to serve the construction of the girders.

On the Ninh Binh side, the approach bridge over the right dike of the Day River consists of 3 continuous spans of prestressed reinforced concrete box girders with the diagram (46+70+46)m, the remaining spans use prestressed reinforced concrete Super-T girder structure, some pillars have been completed.

The bridge piers are made of reinforced concrete poured in place on a bored pile foundation system. According to Dan Tri reporters, in the middle of May, the weather is hot, but the construction sites are still very urgent. To ensure the health of the workers, the contractor allows workers to work earlier in the morning and rest early, and to work later in the afternoon and rest late.

On both sides of the bridge, on the Ninh Binh side, the bridge connects with Bai Dinh - Kim Son road by 2 branches with a 12m wide roadbed; on the Nam Dinh side, the overpass route is different levels with National Highway 37B and different levels connecting with Provincial Road 490, connected by 2 branches, with a 8m wide roadbed. It is known that the Day River overpass construction project connects important traffic routes of the two provinces of Ninh Binh and Nam Dinh, gradually completing the expressway from Ninh Binh to Hai Phong (CT.08 route). At the same time, it will strengthen intra-regional and inter-regional connectivity in the Red River Delta; reduce the load on the existing traffic system, shorten the distance and travel time for traffic participants, creating momentum for socio-economic development.
