The players selected by VFF to train in Japan include Nguyen Hoang Nam, Dang Thanh Binh, Nguyen Thien Phu, Nguyen Luong Tuan Khai, Vi Dinh Thuong, Nguyen Quoc Khanh, Le Dinh Long Vu and Pham Nguyen Quoc Trung. These are members of the Vietnam U17 team participating in the 2023 AFC U17 Championship finals and playing for the Vietnam U18 team in the recent U18 Seoul Cup friendly tournament.
Coach Hoang Anh Tuan - based on evaluations from recent training sessions and tournaments - proposed 8 players for VFF to choose from.
8 Vietnamese players were sent to train at J-League clubs.
The above players were divided into J-League 1 clubs to practice for 10 days. Nguyen Hoang Nam, Dang Thanh Binh and Nguyen Thien Phu went to Yokohama Club. This is the only J-League 1 club using Vietnamese players at the moment. Striker Nguyen Cong Phuong is playing for this team.
Meanwhile, Le Dinh Long Vu and Pham Nguyen Quoc Trung joined Mito Hollyhock to practice. Nguyen Luong Tuan Khai, Vi Dinh Thuong, and Nguyen Quoc Khanh participated in activities at Jubilo Iwata Club.
This training program is part of the cooperation between the Vietnam Football Federation and the Japan Football Association (JFA). During the training period, players will have the opportunity to compete with J-League youth teams and watch some matches in the Japanese national championship.
The Vietnam Football Federation hopes that this will be an opportunity for players to gain experience and practice in a professional football environment. Players will progress faster, thereby creating resources for the national team.
