Back in 2008, coinciding with the release of Grand Theft Auto 4, Rockstar Games' Social Club was launched. It was an online service that allowed players to track their GTA stats, access multiplayer options, and act as an authentication method for online play.
This interface is now gone from the website.
The same basic system was also used for GTA 5 without any rebranding, but it seems like it won't be around after the launch of GTA 6.
Rockstar Games has promised the first GTA 6 trailer will be out early next December but it's still a mystery when the game will launch, although the Social Club shutdown could imply it's coming sooner.
The GTA fan community is predicting that the trailer will be released on December 8 at The Game Awards, but it's possible that the game will appear earlier to give gamers time to pre-order.
It's impossible to say whether this change will make any difference before GTA 6 launches, but it's highly unlikely that stats and data from the Social Club will be lost.
GTA 6 always brings expectations from the GTA loving community
What that new service will be called remains a mystery, as it's currently just being referred to as the "Rockstar Gaming Platform," while Social Club's own website remains live.
One of the big questions about GTA 6 is whether and how it will interact with GTA Online. Will there be a completely separate GTA Online 2 or will players have to log into a new website?
Rockstar Games has yet to give any clues and there have been very few leaks when it comes to the online side of things GTA-related. They haven't even confirmed that the online mode will launch at the same time as the single-player mode.
Last week, Rockstar Games overhauled its website, leading the online community to think about the upcoming release of GTA 6, so now, just a change to the website is making fans of this game series restless.
