TPO - The Rach Dia bridge project on Le Van Luong Street (connecting District 7 and Nha Be District) is being accelerated to complete by the end of this year, in order to reduce traffic congestion in the southern gateway area of Ho Chi Minh City.
Rach Dia Bridge connects the two ends of Nha Be District - District 7 (HCMC), construction began in July 2023. This bridge crosses the canal of the same name, with the hope that after completion, it will become a vital bridge, increasing the connectivity of Nha Be District and District 7. |
The Rach Dia bridge project above, with a total investment of more than 500 billion VND, is being accelerated to complete by the end of 2024, to replace the old, degraded iron bridge and reduce traffic congestion for the southern gateway area of Ho Chi Minh City. |
According to the design, the new Rach Dia bridge is 318m long, 9-10.5m wide, and consists of 9 spans. The two ends of the bridge are made of approach roads with a total length of 233m and width of 14-27m. |
According to Project Management Board 4 - Management Board of Investment and Construction Projects of Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Works (Traffic Board), up to now, the project has completed nearly 50% of the volume. |
After many months of construction, the total progress of the entire project has reached nearly 50%. The bridge section across Rach Dia has completed 10/10 pier foundations and 8/10 bridge pier bodies. |
Dozens of workers and many machines are also rushing to build the bridge's sections. |
The approach road section is completing the roadbed treatment, load-reducing floor, installing 95% of the drainage culverts, and currently continuing to construct the road foundation and retaining wall. |
The construction site is organizing 4 construction teams (3 on land and 1 underwater). |
Previously, the work of relocating technical infrastructure, compensation, support and resettlement for people was completed, and 100% of the site was handed over by the end of 2023. |
Some important items must be constructed in the middle of the canal, the contractor must use 2 large barges to bring machinery to the middle of the canal for construction. |
The new Rach Dia Bridge, once completed, will connect Le Van Luong Street directly to Nguyen Van Linh Street, becoming a vital bridge, increasing connectivity between Nha Be District and District 7, helping to reduce the load on Rach Dia 2 Bridge on Nguyen Huu Tho Street, which is already overloaded and often congested during rush hour. |
