The Ministry of Health has issued Official Dispatch No. 3341/BYT-BH on strengthening communication and organizing activities on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of Vietnam Health Insurance Day.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Health requested the People's Committees of provinces and cities to direct relevant departments, branches and sectors to strengthen the implementation of propaganda activities and dissemination of policies and laws on health insurance on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of Vietnam Health Insurance Day (July 1, 2009 - July 1, 2024).
Specifically, the selected theme this year is: "Effective use of the Health Insurance Fund and improvement of the quality of health insurance examination and treatment at grassroots health facilities".
Communication activities on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of Vietnam Health Insurance Day (July 1, 2009 - July 1, 2024) will focus on the period from June 24, 2024 to July 8, 2024 with forms suitable to local conditions.
Specifically, such as rallies, seminars, posting news, articles, reports on mass media...; organizing the hanging of banners and streamers to propagate health insurance with the main communication messages proposed by the Ministry of Health.
The content of the messages focuses mainly on the purpose and significance of the policy; improving the quality of health insurance services at grassroots health facilities; using the Health Insurance Fund economically and effectively; the goal of universal health insurance coverage; strictly implementing the law on health insurance, etc.
The Ministry of Health assigned the Department of Health to direct medical examination and treatment facilities in the area to carry out propaganda and dissemination activities about health insurance in accordance with the actual situation at the medical examination and treatment facilities.
Facilities continue to strictly implement regulations on health insurance; improve the quality of medical examination and treatment, pay attention to grassroots health care; strengthen inspections to prevent and combat wastefulness, abuse, and profiteering of the Health Insurance Fund; and use the Health Insurance Fund economically and effectively.
15 years of implementing Vietnam Health Insurance Day, from 2009 to present, the health insurance policy has been continuously improved, the rights of participants are increasingly guaranteed.
If in 2008, the whole country had only 39.7 million people participating in health insurance, the coverage rate reached 46.1% of the population, then by 2023, the whole country had 93.6 million people participating in health insurance, 2.3 times higher than in 2008, the coverage rate reached 93.35% of the population.
Every year, on average, there are over 150 million people receiving medical examination and treatment, and the Health Insurance Fund pays over 100,000 billion VND. In 2023, there will be over 174 million health insurance visits. The health insurance system is well organized from the central to local levels, including public and private health insurance facilities, facilitating access to health insurance cardholders' health insurance services.
