On the morning of October 26, at the group discussion session within the framework of the 8th Session of the 15th National Assembly, Party Central Committee member, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, National Assembly delegate of Kon Tum delegation Nguyen Van Hung highly appreciated the Government's report on the results of implementing the socio-economic development plan in 2024 and the direction for 2025.
He emphasized that the report deeply touched on many areas, including culture - the foundation of the country's sustainable development.
Results from the joint efforts of the whole society
According to Minister Nguyen Van Hung, in the context of deep integration and the country's continuous development, culture is increasingly receiving special attention from the Party and State.
With that spirit, the cultural sector is constantly developing, becoming an important driving force contributing to the socio-economy, while preserving and promoting national cultural values, in line with the orientation of "building an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity" set forth in Resolution 5 of the 13th Central Committee.
Minister Nguyen Van Hung reviewed many major cultural activities that were widely organized, spreading good values, contributing to raising people's need for cultural enjoyment.
He emphasized that these achievements are not only thanks to the efforts of the cultural sector but also the result of joint efforts from all levels, sectors, localities and the whole society.
“Building a cultural environment at the grassroots level is increasingly flourishing, nurturing the soul and personality of people in all regions,” said the Minister, at the same time giving examples of good work in building a cultural environment at the grassroots level such as in Kon Tum, or events such as the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory – clear evidence of the power of culture in community life.
Regarding the tourism sector, the Minister assessed that the industry has recovered and developed strongly after the Covid-19 pandemic, with many localities achieving impressive growth indexes, even surpassing the pre-pandemic period.
Regarding sports, the Ministry is implementing the new phase of the Sports Development Strategy and Conclusion 70 of the Politburo, focusing on improving achievements in international arenas. According to the Minister, to improve sports achievements, there needs to be large, systematic and long-term investment - something that major economies in the world have done.
The Ministry also coordinates with relevant agencies to remove bottlenecks in policies and regimes for artists and athletes to ensure fairness and create better development conditions.

One of the highlights in the Government's report is the promotion of the development of cultural industries - a new field with great potential and of special interest to the Government.
Minister Nguyen Van Hung shared that for the first time, the Prime Minister chaired a conference on the development of the cultural industry, and had previously assigned the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to develop a strategy for developing this field.
He emphasized that developing the cultural industry is an inevitable trend, but Vietnam is behind other countries, requiring "shortcuts and anticipation" by relying on three pillars: the state's creative role in issuing policies; the participation of investors to exploit and develop cultural resources; and the creative role of artists to enrich cultural content.
Looking to 2025 – the year of accelerating towards the goal, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will submit to the National Assembly for approval the Law on Cultural Heritage (amended), the Law on Advertising (amended) and the National Target Program on Cultural Development.
Minister Nguyen Van Hung said that amending and supplementing laws is inevitable, suitable to practical needs and based on the principles of transparency and clear decentralization.
He also expressed his hope that National Assembly deputies would support the effort to unlock resources for culture, aiming to build an advanced culture rich in identity, spreading Vietnam's soft power internationally.
The Minister affirmed that the cultural sector is not simply the task of one sector but the common responsibility of the whole society. “There needs to be the companionship of the Party, the State, the National Assembly, the Government and all people so that Vietnamese culture can truly develop sustainably and contribute effectively to the overall development of the country,” Minister Nguyen Van Hung emphasized.
