Because it was not affected by the rainy weather, the contractor mobilized maximum manpower and machinery to construct the Deo But tunnel - the only mountain tunnel on the North-South expressway through Ha Tinh.
In recent times, Ha Tinh has often experienced heavy rains, which have greatly affected people's lives and production activities, especially the construction of projects. However, with the Deo But tunnel on the North-South expressway through Ha Tinh, construction is still progressing normally due to the nature of the construction inside the mountain.
Deo But Tunnel, constructed by Son Hai Group (Quang Binh), is part of the Vung Ang – Bung expressway section with a length of 55.34km, passing through Ha Tinh province (12.9km) and Quang Binh province (42.44km). This is one of three component projects of the North – South expressway in the East phase 2021 – 2025 being implemented in Ha Tinh.
Deo But Tunnel is nearly 1km long, designed with 2 tunnels with lengths of 716m and 840m respectively. Each tunnel is 8m high, 15m wide, has 3 lanes with expansion points to prevent incidents during use and an internal lighting system. The drilling and blasting work for tunnel construction was carried out by Son Hai Group since May.
After 6 months of construction, up to now, at the northern gate of Deo But tunnel, 2 tunnel tubes with each tube length of 200m have been drilled.
At the southern gate, a new 120m long tube has been drilled, the remaining tunnel has not been deployed due to some procedures.
In recent times, Son Hai Group has mobilized hundreds of workers along with dozens of modern locomotives and equipment, divided into “3 shifts, 4 teams” to continuously construct day and night. Thanks to that, the progress of the Deo But tunnel project is always guaranteed.
According to Mr. Do Quoc Tuan - Construction Management Board of Son Hai Group, up to this point, the geological foundation of Deo But mountain is not too complicated, the tunnel construction process is quite favorable. However, it is difficult to predict anything when constructing inside the mountain, so, in addition to ensuring the progress and quality of the project, the safety factor is always the top priority of the unit.
Although the rainy weather did not affect the tunnel construction process much, the rain caused more underground water and the tunnel floor became muddy. To ensure safety, the wheels of the vehicles were wrapped with iron chains and workers had to wear boots to prevent slipping.
During the tunnel drilling process, large pipes are installed at each tunnel tube...
... with the task of vacuuming, reducing noise, creating ventilation for construction workers, especially after each blasting and rock drilling session.
The electric lighting system is pulled into the tunnel, helping engineers and construction workers to work conveniently.
The Deo But tunnel is expected to be completed in December 2025, at the same time as the Vung Ang - Bung expressway. When completed, the Deo But tunnel will be one of the highlights on the North - South expressway section through Ha Tinh.
