During the trial of the case at Van Thinh Phat, Ms. Truong My Lan - Chairwoman of the group - stated that she wanted to sell 18% of shares at Vietcombank - Bonday - Ben Thanh Joint Venture Company Limited (Photo: Nam Anh).
This joint venture is the investor of Vietcombank Tower Saigon. The project is located at 5 Me Linh Square, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, with 4 facades right between Me Linh Square and the Saigon River, overlooking the whole Thu Thiem new urban area (Photo: Nam Anh).
According to Ms. Lan, the 18% of capital was contributed in 2011 and is the property of the defendant's mother. Ms. Lan stated that she and Van Thinh Phat transferred 18% of the shares to Ho Chi Minh City Service - Trading Joint Stock Company (Setra) to hold (Photo: Nam Anh).
Although this amount of assets is not related to SCB, she still wants to bring it in to remedy the consequences (Photo: Nam Anh).
Ms. Lan also expressed that she did not want to sell these shares to Vietcombank but asked the court to allow a public auction. Whoever offers the highest price will buy it and Ms. Lan's family will carry out the sale of the shares (Photo: Nam Anh).
At court, Vietcombank confirmed that Ms. Lan, through Setra Company, owned 18% of the shares in the building. The bank representative requested to release the seizure of the above assets and transfer the capital contribution. At the same time, this bank hired an appraisal unit, the above 18% shares were worth more than 920 billion VND, the appraisal certificate was sent to the court (Photo: Nam Anh).
Vietcombank representative said the bank and Van Thinh Phat have signed an agreement to transfer the above capital contribution, the procedures are awaiting instructions from the prosecuting agencies (Photo: Nam Anh).
Another project that Ms. Truong My Lan mentioned to be sold to remedy the consequences of the case is the Capital Place building (29 Lieu Giai, Hanoi). Ms. Lan said that this is the most beautiful building in Hanoi, worth one billion USD and owes a foreign bank 250 million USD (Photo: Thanh Dong).
This Grade A office building is located right at the intersection of Lieu Giai - Kim Ma - Nguyen Chi Thanh (Ba Dinh District). Capital Place has a prime location, near Vincom Center Metropolis, opposite Lotte Hotel Hanoi, Daewoo Hotel (Photo: Thanh Dong).
In 2022, a member of CapitaLand Group announced the sale of the building for $751 million. The buyer was Viva Land Investment and Development Joint Stock Company (part of the Van Thinh Phat ecosystem) (Photo: Thanh Dong).
Ms. Lan told the court that currently, someone offered 330 million USD but had to prioritize paying off debts to foreign banks so there was not much left. Therefore, she wanted to find an investor to pay a higher price to remedy the consequences (Photo: Thanh Dong).
Previously, in March, Ms. Lan told the court that her daughter was selling the building for $1 billion. However, the court said that Ms. Lan's daughter, Chu Duyet Phan, had sent the court a proposal stating that the project was expected to cost about $360 million, not $1 billion as the defendant said.
But Ms. Lan said that her friend bought it for 700 million USD, plus the cost of completing the paperwork was 1 billion USD.
Shares in the joint venture that owns Vietcombank Tower and Capital Place are the assets that Ms. Truong My Lan wants to sell at this time. In addition, many other real estate assets are also wanted by the Chairman of Van Thinh Phat to be released from seizure and transferred to remedy the consequences of the case, such as the 6A project in Binh Chanh district, Ho Chi Minh City; the super project with 4 facades of Amigo on Nguyen Hue street (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City)...
