About 35km from the center of Thai Binh city, Con Vanh eco-tourism area has a long, flat natural sand beach and is a destination for many tourists from inside and outside the province. Every year, during the April 30 - May 1 holidays, tens of thousands of visitors come here to visit, swim and relax. The sudden increase in the number of visitors during the holidays has caused a lot of pressure and difficulties for the authorities and the Management Board of Con Vanh eco-tourism area in ensuring security, order and traffic safety, especially preventing drowning accidents for tourists when swimming in the sea.

Con Vanh attracts a large number of tourists to visit and swim during the holidays.

Although during holidays, the work of ensuring safety and rescue for tourists is always of concern to all levels, functional branches of the district, and the Management Board of Con Vanh Ecotourism Area, there are still unfortunate cases that occur. Most recently, during the April 30 - May 1, 2023 holiday, at Con Vanh beach, a 9th grade student went swimming and unfortunately drowned and died. According to Mr. To Manh Bien, Head of the Management Board of Con Vanh Ecotourism Area: To ensure security, safety, and prevent the risk of drowning at Con Vanh beach, the Management Board has developed a plan to hire human resources to do rescue work during holidays and peak days. We have repaired the broadcasting system to carry out propaganda work, made signs on trails, roads down to the water's edge, and repaired and re-installed boundary posts in the bathing area to keep tourists alert and vigilant. During the holidays, the unit focused on forces and personnel to raise vigilance, constantly reminding tourists and people to be on guard against bad situations that may arise. Regarding environmental sanitation, the Board organized general cleaning campaigns before the April 30 - May 1 holidays. It held meetings with business households to deploy tasks, requiring households to proactively collect and transport household waste to ensure environmental sanitation in the tourist area. Due to the large number of tourists visiting Con Vanh eco-tourism area during the holidays, in order to ensure rescue work, the Board also requested the District People's Committee to consider directing functional departments and branches to requisition maritime militia forces from some neighboring communes to coordinate with the unit's forces and border guards stationed in the area to carry out rescue tasks.

Along with the risk of drowning accidents at the beach, during the April 30 - May 1 holidays every year, traffic jams often occur, especially at the end of about 2km of Provincial Road 221A before reaching Con Vanh beach. Lieutenant Colonel Pham Dinh Thang, Captain of the Traffic Police and Order Team, Tien Hai District Police, said: Due to the large number of tourists flocking to Con Vanh eco-tourism area during the April 30 - May 1 holidays, Provincial Road 221A leading to Con Vanh beach is sometimes congested. To ensure traffic safety and minimize traffic jams, during the upcoming holidays, the District Police Traffic Police will coordinate with the police of Nam Phu and Dong Minh communes to arrange forces to regulate traffic on the roads leading to tourist areas; proactively develop plans to prevent traffic jams; Increase the number of troops on duty and coordinate with functional forces to handle situations during the holiday.

In addition to the efforts of the authorities and the management unit of Con Vanh eco-tourism area, people and tourists need to raise awareness of keeping themselves and their relatives and friends safe, especially children when swimming in the sea must be closely supervised and managed by adults. This is the most important thing to avoid unfortunate accidents.
