The Ministry of Health has directed the Department of Food Safety and the Department of Health of Quang Binh province to direct relevant units to inspect, verify information, take samples of food products suspected of not ensuring safety to test food safety indicators; detect and strictly handle food safety violations and publicize them on mass media.
Strengthen inspection and supervision activities to ensure food safety for bottled and jarred drinking water production facilities in the area, strictly handle food safety violations (if any).
Strengthen information, communication and guidance work for people and businesses to raise awareness and responsibility for ensuring food safety in food production and trading.

Mr. Ho An Phong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Binh province, also requested the Department of Health to preside over and coordinate with the People's Committee of Le Thuy district and related agencies and localities to urgently inspect the above incident and report to the People's Committee of Quang Binh province before May 11.
Previously, on April 25, Phong Thuy Kindergarten, Le Thuy District received a large quantity of 20-liter water bottles from Bang Mineral Water Joint Stock Company (Le Thuy) and stored them in the warehouse. On April 28, when using one of the newly imported water bottles, a leech was unexpectedly discovered inside. A teacher at the school discovered the foreign object and used his phone to record it.
In the video, when the teacher shook the water bottle, a leech began to wiggle and move inside the bottle.
After receiving the feedback, the Quang Binh Food Safety and Hygiene Department sent a delegation to directly work and inspect the production at Bang Mineral Water Joint Stock Company.

The Board of Directors of Phong Thuy Kindergarten said that the school had worked with the company's representative, not demanding material or spiritual compensation, only asking the company to review all stages from production, water filtration, warehousing, and transportation to ensure greater safety.
Mr. Tran Huu Hoa, Director of Bang Mineral Water Joint Stock Company, said that when the incident was discovered, the unit had made a record, but because the school did not demand compensation, the subordinates had the water destroyed. The company is currently working with the authorities to determine the water quality.
“I admit that the water bottle is produced by our company, the batch number belongs to the unit. The water bottle in the clip is still intact with the plastic wrap, but the plastic wrap at the faucet is no longer intact, the water bottle is partially empty.
Personally, I think someone threw the leech through the tap because of unfair competition. I hope the authorities will clarify the incident. If it is because of our production and transportation that are not guaranteed, our company will overcome all consequences. But if it is not because of us, we also hope that the Bang mineral water brand will still exist to ensure stable production and support factory workers.
The Quang Binh Province Food Safety Department said that the water bottle with the leech is no longer there, so it will be difficult to clarify the cause. Whether the water from Bang Mineral Water Joint Stock Company is of guaranteed quality or not will have to wait because there are no test results yet.
