Attending the working session on behalf of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism were Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong; leaders of Departments, Divisions and units under the Ministry; on behalf of Dien Bien province were Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Mua A Son; Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Thanh Do; leaders of provincial departments, branches and sectors.

National Tourism Year is the biggest national event of the year for the tourism industry. In 2024, Dien Bien province is honored to host this event associated with the 70th Anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister Nguyen Van Hung emphasized that the activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory are a very important political event that the Party and State leaders pay special attention to. According to the assignment of the Party and State leaders, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is responsible for coordinating with Dien Bien province to organize a number of activities within the scope of the Ministry's authority and responsibility.

Organizing commemorative activities not only helps to arouse pride in the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory but also contributes to promoting the socio-economic development of Dien Bien. In particular, service tourism is identified as one of the pillars that Dien Bien is aiming for and focusing on developing.

“The opening ceremony of the National Tourism Year is the opening event for a series of activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory. If well prepared, it will create a positive effect for the following activities,” the Minister emphasized.

In the overall report on the National Tourism Year - Dien Bien 2024, Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration Nguyen Trung Khanh said that this is one of the largest tourism events, lasting throughout the year, with a national scale and scope. In which, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism directs the organization, orientation, communication organization and organizes a number of national and international activities; Dien Bien province directs the organization; Departments, ministries, branches and provinces and cities nationwide coordinate, support, and have response activities.

The Opening Ceremony is expected to take place on the evening of March 16, 2024 at 7/5 Square, Dien Bien Phu City, Dien Bien Province and will be broadcast live on Vietnam Television.

Within the framework of the National Tourism Year - Dien Bien 2024, 169 programs and events will take place; including 13 national programs and events organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, ministries, departments and central branches; Dien Bien province will organize 28 programs, events and activities; 128 events and activities will be organized by 33 provinces and centrally-run cities.

Regarding organization, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has established a Steering Committee and a Working Group, Dien Bien province has established a local Organizing Committee and 05 specialized sub-committees of the province.

Regarding the work that has been implemented, Director Nguyen Trung Khanh said that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has sent an official dispatch requesting ministries, departments, branches and People's Committees of some provinces and centrally-run cities to send representatives of the agency's leaders to participate in the Steering Committee for National Tourism Year 2024. The Vietnam National Tourism Administration has sent an official dispatch requesting the local tourism management departments to register to organize activities and events in response.

In January 2024, within the framework of the ASEAN Tourism Forum held in Laos, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism held a press conference to introduce Vietnam tourism, including the highlight of the National Tourism Year - Dien Bien 2024.

Dien Bien province has also been very active in establishing the local Organizing Committee, proposing themes, completing projects, plans, the Opening Ceremony of National Tourism Year 2024, and preparing plans to organize events within the framework of National Tourism Year 2024.

Regarding the plan in the coming time, Director Nguyen Trung Khanh said that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the People's Committee of Dien Bien province will hold a press conference to introduce the National Tourism Year 2024. On the side of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will collect opinions from the Leaders, complete the design of the identity of the National Tourism Year 2024, on that basis, there will be a document of instructions sent to localities to request official use in activities and events in response. Continue to coordinate to prepare for the Opening Ceremony on March 16, 2024.

At the same time, promote communication to promote events and activities of National Tourism Year 2024 on mass media channels, in domestic and foreign communication campaigns associated with plans to coordinate with the Tourism Development Support Fund to organize tourism promotion activities abroad. The image of Dien Bien, of National Tourism Year 2024 will be present at events to promote Vietnam tourism in key tourist source markets.

The conference also heard reports from the leaders of the Department of Grassroots Culture, the Department of Sports and Physical Training, and the Department of Cinema on a number of activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory. Accordingly, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will coordinate to organize a Mobile Propaganda Contest and a Large-Panel Propaganda Painting Exhibition; the 4th National Paragliding Club Championship in 2024; Film Week to Celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory; a Festival of Library Staff to promote reading culture and introduce books, etc.

On the side of Dien Bien province, Provincial Party Secretary Tran Quoc Cuong emphasized that Dien Bien province is honored to have the Government and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism approve the proposal to host the National Tourism Year 2024 associated with the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory. These are all very important events of national significance, and the province is making great efforts to prepare the best conditions for the events to take place successfully.

“Although the locality still faces many difficulties, we will try to devote the highest resources within our capacity to organize the event well. We will not let difficulties cause us to organize too modestly, affecting the image of the National Tourism Year. We promise to use all our resources within our capacity to ensure the organization of the National Tourism Year 2024,” the Secretary of the Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee affirmed, and also requested the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to continue to support and help the locality successfully organize the event.

Regarding the activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory, Secretary of Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee Tran Quoc Cuong also requested the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to pay attention and direct specialized units under the Ministry to implement a number of activities chaired by the Ministry, in coordination with Dien Bien province on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory, such as: Developing plans, program scripts and organizing the implementation of training and performing the Special Art Program; directing the Departments, Divisions and specialized units to soon advise on the issuance of a Plan to organize a number of activities in Dien Bien province on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory...

At the meeting, representatives of units under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Dien Bien province spoke and discussed further contents related to the National Tourism Year and activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory, and the brand identity of the National Tourism Year 2024.

Concluding the meeting, Minister Nguyen Van Hung reaffirmed the significance and importance of the 70th Anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory and the National Tourism Year 2024. The Minister assigned the Vietnam National Tourism Administration and units under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism such as the Department of Sports and Physical Training, the Department of Grassroots Culture, the Department of Performing Arts, the Department of Cinema, the Department of Libraries, etc. to closely coordinate with Dien Bien province to successfully organize activities according to the Plan. The National Tourism Year 2024 must highlight the glorious and heroic history of Dien Bien Phu; exploit and promote unique cultural values; contribute to breakthrough development in tourism, creating momentum for socio-economic development of Dien Bien province in the following years.
