Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son speaks at a working session with the Provincial Party Standing Committee.

At the meeting, representatives of the provincial People's Committee briefly reported on the socio -economic development situation, international integration work, and implementation of foreign affairs of the locality. Accordingly, the GRDP in the first 6 months of Dien Bien province reached 8.75%; the economic structure shifted in the right direction. Tourism continued to be a bright spot in economic growth, the number of tourists to Dien Bien increased 2.18 times compared to the same period in 2023. Cultural and social aspects have positive changes; the province has successfully organized many cultural, sports and tourism events, especially successfully coordinated to organize the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory.

In foreign affairs, Dien Bien and the northern provinces of Laos regularly send delegations of all levels and sectors to exchange experiences and carry out cooperation activities. With the northern provinces of Thailand, Dien Bien province continues to implement the province's human resource training project. With Yunnan province and the provinces of China, the cooperative and friendly relations are always maintained, consolidated and developed. Dien Bien continues to create conditions and cooperate closely with foreign non-governmental organizations to fully implement the signed contents. The whole province received 17 new aid packages, with a total committed aid value of more than 133 billion VND sponsored by 7 foreign non-governmental organizations and 4 foreign agencies and organizations.

Dien Bien province requests the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to advise and propose to the Government to support funding for the province to effectively implement cooperation contents to help the provinces of Northern Laos according to the policies of the Government, ministries and central branches; expand foreign relations with localities of Yunnan province (China) and the provinces of Northern Thailand. Pay attention to and prioritize programs and projects to build and upgrade infrastructure in border gate areas; especially traffic routes to the border, patrol roads, and border marker protection works to facilitate border management and protection forces in inspecting and controlling the border system and border markers. Support funding for investment in essential infrastructure in the A Pa Chai opening area, especially connecting the traffic system.

Propose that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs pay attention to supporting connections, introducing the potential and benefits of the province, organizing foreign affairs activities combined with promoting investment, trade and tourism; introducing and connecting diplomatic delegations and foreign enterprises to Dien Bien to research and seek investment and business cooperation opportunities. Support the province in connecting and expanding flight routes, continue to pay attention to prioritizing the coordination and arrangement of foreign non-governmental programs and projects.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son highly appreciated the results of socio-economic development, ensuring national defense - security and foreign affairs of Dien Bien province in recent times. In particular, the highlight is the very successful, thoughtful, safe and effective organization of activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory and the celebration, parade and march. Thereby, it has aroused the tradition of patriotism, national pride, leaving many good impressions and images of Dien Bien with the people of the whole country and international friends. The Minister requested the departments under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to provide specific instructions for Dien Bien province to speed up the construction progress of the A Pa Chai - Long Phu border gate area, this is a potential area for economic and tourism development; at the same time, there is a connection with companies in the Northeast Asia region in cooperating with Dien Bien province in exporting foreign labor.

On this occasion, the Minister of Foreign Affairs presented 20 gifts (each worth 1.2 million VND) to union members in difficult circumstances in the province; 10 gifts to poor workers; supported 3 solidarity houses with a total value of 150 million VND; supported 100 million VND to build a semi-boarding kitchen for Ma Thi Ho Secondary School (Muong Cha district); presented gifts for the program to support disabled children to schools in Dien Bien province worth 200 million VND.
