DNO - On the afternoon of December 13, answering the question of delegate Dinh Vui, Deputy Head of the Urban Committee of the City People's Council about the "fate" of the Western Ring Road 2 project (remaining section), Director of the Department of Planning and Investment Tran Thi Thanh Tam said that, up to this point, the project (section from Hai Van - Tuy Loan road to road No. 8 Hoa Khanh Industrial Park and the section through the Biotechnology Center) has been accepted and put into operation at the end of November 2023.

According to Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Tam, for the remaining section of this project (about 8 km), the City Priority Infrastructure Management Board is coordinating with relevant units to make appropriate adjustments to the city's master plan to 2030, with a vision to 2045, approved by the Prime Minister.
In particular, adjusting the section through the previously planned new railway station area and adjusting the intersection with National Highway 14B in the direction of extending the western beltway 2 connecting with the Hoa Phuoc-Hoa Khuong route via the DT605 route.
"The completion of the planned route will be carried out in parts after completing the adjustments to the zoning and detailed planning and the city ensures resources to carry out the compensation and clearance work," said Ms. Tam.
The city also proposed to phase in investment for the remaining part to ensure feasibility, in accordance with the adjusted planning and resources of the city.
Accordingly, in the period from 2023 to 2027, a detailed planning adjustment plan will be made for the remaining sections of the Western Belt Road 2. In the period from 2024 to 2028, investment will continue to be implemented to complete the Western Belt Road 2 section from Hoan Van Thai Street to DT605 Street passing through Cam Le District.

Chairing the question-and-answer session, Chairman of the City People's Council Luong Nguyen Minh Triet affirmed that investment in the Western Belt Road 2 project is very necessary, contributing to promoting economic development for many areas.
However, to effectively invest in this project, it is recommended that the Department of Planning and Investment proactively coordinate with relevant sectors and localities to develop plans, allocate specific resources, synchronize traffic connections as well as strengthen inspection and supervision to avoid illegal construction and expansion, which can cause complicated consequences.
